ALright, it has been 3 years since I touched a model but I have decided to delve away from 40k for a bit and return to fantasy warhammer lizardman army, now that more then 2 people seem to play in my area. So my question becaomes, what do you the dakkadakka community think must be included in such an army, being as I made my choice on the fact the army contains a giant magical frog and a dinosaur with a death ray on the back. (I want a laser guided dinosaur res bonus lol.) As i am ordering the army book on the monday coming, I just wanted to get a feel for what people have found works, and what is a waste of time. I want a fun playable competitive army, so to all out there, share your wisdoms, expereince and pipe up thanks.

1 Battleforce, 1 stegadon & a few heroes is a good starter force.

2012- stopped caring
Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)
Adepticon 2011- Mike H. Orks 8th Seed (This was the WTF list of the Final 16)
Adepticon 2011- Combat Patrol Best General

I think you're onto a winner in terms of building you army, especially as you can build up your rank and file from the old edition saurus and skinks, you can pick up large numbers of these floating around on ebay and other sites for very cheap indeed.

yeah the battleforce is the first thing you need, it's cheap and it'll give you a lot of stuff for the money. After that, you need probably a stegodon, a commander or Slann if you want really large battles.

A couple of stegadons, a battleforce and a slann will get you started. You can go the cheap route and buy the old saurus/skink models but the skinks are armed with bows (no longer an option for lizardmen so they'll be proxies) and the saurus are better off armed with spears. Besides that terradons are very popular. If you're going to run a slann then you want at least 16 temple guard. An old blood on a carnosaur is fun if you're not running a slann (just make sure that you run 2 engines of the gods minimum). Salamanders and razordons are both good but I rarely find room in my lists for them.

Battleforce is good, plus a box or two of Skinks...I love those little buggers. Toss in a Stegadon and a couple Skink Priests and you'll have a good, solid starting army.

I've pretty much reiterated what everyone else has said, but its pretty sound advice...

Teradons is where the action is.

I have 4 of the last edition's ones and need to get another 4.

Flying through and in forests.
Dropping rocks.
March blocking and warmachine killing.

They are currently my only must haves as they are so versatile.

This is so true, in all the games I've played with the new book my Terradons have been my MVP pretty much every game. Being able to fly into forests is great IMHO, keeps them out of sight of the guns for a turn or so. Always the first thing I write in my list.
