Howdy all

So this past Tuesday we got some good games going. My first game of the day was against my friend Ben's Necrons. He'd been demolishing my CSM since I got em (beat me in 4 games), and now that i finally have what I need to deal with those pesky crons, we had a go at it! Sorry forthe bad picture quality, the chip or whatever inside of my cam that develops the photos is shot. so everything I shoot turns out muddy.

8x CSM, undefined, 2x meltaguns, champ w/ powerfist mounted in rhino w/ dozers
8x Plagued Marines, 2x Plasmaguns, champ w/ powerfist mounted in rhino w/ dozers
10x lesser demons
1x defiler CCW + TLHF
3x Obliterators
4x CSM terminators, Mark of Tzeech, mounted in LR
- 1 with double LC's
- 1 with heavy flamer and chain fist
- 2 with PW/Combis
1x LR w/ Demonic Possession and Dozer
1x Chaos teminator lord, mark of slanesh, demon weapon, combi wep, in LR with termis
1x Chaos Sorcerer, Mark of Tzeech, Gift of Chaos (didn't take second power cuz I'd never use it lol)

Crons-
2 groups of 20x warriors
3x wraiths w/ destroyer lord (gaze of flame, scythe, and I think he had somethin else)
8x Scarab Swarms
1x Necron Lord w/ Staff of light and rez orb
3x heavy destroyers
1x monolith
3x wraiths
(he proxied with some swarms)

Turn 1
---------
The game was spearhead, annihilation. He took the back right corner with 2 ruins to cower behind, while I took the opposite side. Ben rolled and went first

Ben-
Deployed everything but his Scarab Swarms and Monolith. Took pot shots with his 3 Heavy Destroyers, shaking the LR (yay for DP). He chose not to move up and nothing else was in range.

Me -
Ran my rhino's and LR up 12 inches. Popped smoke. Defiler moved off to the right of my DZ. The oblits took pot shots at the HD, hoping to drop them. Due to lucky cover saves they did nothing :( The defiler took a shot at bens backmost group of warriors, knocking down 3 after cover saves.

Turn 2

Ben-
Fails all his reserve rolls. Doesn't move up. takes 6 warrior shots at the Red Rhino, 3 destroyers at LR. Warriors do nothing, detroyers pen twice. I make my cover saves. He makes 1 we'll be back.

Me-
LR moves 12, drops off the termis right in front of his left warriors. Green and red rhinos move up and to the right, intent on getting to the second group of warriors. Defiler moves 6". I fail my reserves. Termis shoot into the warriors, knocking down 3 and assault. Because they are out of rez orb range I kill 6 of them outright (bad rolls). Warriors do nothing bad. He makes his morale (double 1's!). Defiler shoots at the back warriors again, knocking down 2 more. Obliterators line of sight is blocked by the LR so they do nothing. The plagued marines (green rhino) take 4 plasma gun shots at the destroyers. I wiff (no ones).

Turn 3

Ben -
His wraiths move up to help assault my terminators. His other group of warriors spread out. His scarabs, but not his monolith, comes in. Scarabs assault the red rhino, stunning it. Destroyers shoot the green rhino, immobilizing. He fails to wreck it (rolled a 1 and 4). Wraiths assault the termis. Wraiths + my lord go first. Wraiths do no wounds (made all saves). I roll a 1 for my demon weapon, taking a wound. The terminators kill 5 more warriors. His lord kills 1 terminator. Makes his morale again. Locked in combat.

Me -
I move my LR 6 to get outta LOS for my oblits. I move the oblits 4 inches. Defiler moves up again and fleets (attempting to get close enough for some CC). I make my reserves, the demons come in 6" off my terminators, within assault of the scrabs. My plague marines + sorc get out. For shooting, my oblits whiff. The sorc detached from the PM, so he sends both his GOC into the wraiths, melting one. The PM knock out the heavy destroyers completely. The lesser demons assault the scarabs, killing 4 bases and only losing 2 demons. He loses 2 more bases due to fearless. The defiler fleets. For the termis, the lord knocks out 2 wraiths (killing one squad). The wraiths fail agin, the lord kills 1 more termi. The termis turn around and wipe out squad 2 of wraiths. He passes morale (again!).

Turn 4
--------
ben - once again his warriors just pot shot at my rhino, doing nothing. His monolith finally comes on, shooting at the plagued marines (killing 4). I pass morale. For the assault, the lesser demons kill off the scarabs. I roll 1 for my termi lord, his destroyer lord finally polishing him off. My terminators kill off the rest of the warriors. He passes morale for his lord again... He only fails 1 we'll be back, leaving 18 warriors still.

Me -
The games winding down, ben only having his lords, 20 warriors, and a monolith left. I move the red rhino to the board edge and unload the CSm inside, shooting at the warriors (knocking down 3). The chaos sorc moves up to help take down the warriors. My lesser demons move behind the sorc, eager to help. The plagued marines go to assist the terminators with that damn lord, and the defiler moves up and fleets again. The sorc ran this turn (no range to melt face), the Plagued marines and termis finally polish off the lord, leaving me with 1 terminator left. The defiler is about 15" from the last warriors, but all my lesser demons and things are blocking the way. Obliterators move up a little, trying to get somewhere to do something... They take pot shots at the monolith only stunning it. Same with the land raider. At this point I have 4 VP's and Ben has 0.

Turn 5
--------
Ben-

So that he doesn't get swept completely, he decides to shoot his warriors at the lone terminator, knocking him out. The monolith takes a shot at the plagued marines, only managing to take down 1. it looks like game!

me -
Defiler fleets up. Sorcerer melts 1 warrior. I take all my shots into the warriors, knocking down enough to put him below phase out if he rolls poorly (knocked down 7 warriors).

The game ends there. The final score: CSM 4, Necrons 1.

Theres a few things I coulda done better that game, but overall I adapted my tactics better to deal with necrons. Zerkers are great vs crons, but due to we'll be back, I always sweep and then they stand up (yay rez orb -_-). So I decided to go more shooty and it panned out really well for me. I'll attempt to take on the Crons in Planetstrike this weekend and see how I do! I just got another LR and 5 Terminators w/ 2x LC's, so we'll give em a whirl with a mark of slanesh and see how they do til then!

Sounds like a fun game. You should be able to do well in Planetstrike, depending on the point level and how well he sets up his terrain. The Firestorm attacks, even he does get back up afterwards, stand a chance of pinning his units. As well, your terminators can assault the turn they come in, which is quite nice.

I have a question - what is that strange, globe-like piece of terrain seen behind your Land Raider in the last picture?

The terrain... I have no idea, but it looks cool. like something outta battlestar galactica. So we run it just cuz lol.

As for PS, i think I'm on the defense today. we'll see. I think it'll be me with 4k points of CSM vs Necrons and Eldar or Eldar x2. I'll do a report on the outcome!

The current (widely held) rules interpretation is such that you may not WBB any models that have been subjected to Sweeping Advance. It makes me cry, but it should make your Zerkers quite happy.

As long as you don't run your nids, you should do just fine, haha, jk man.

Sounds like you had fun, Necrons can be so hard to take down if they have rez orbs and a bit of luck! Have certainly been there myself, turn two and thinking OMG i've virtually killed nothing!

You might want to check your list though as you can't take an 8 man CSM squad with 2 special weapons (must be 10 CSM's or more).
