Having not painted minitures for almost 15 years I was recently coaxed back into the hobby with the release of AOBR,
My friend [rekindled _ passion] collects SM and I've always liked the Orks, so it was a win win situation to buy a box each and split.
I have never had the urge to actually game but said friend convinced me that it would be ''fun'' and also stated ''being a little older than the usual newbies we may pick the rules up a bit quicker''.
We've had a few games and I have to say I wish I'd of took the plunge earlier, the rules are still a little confusing but we're getting there (so much for finding it easier).
Anyway enough blurb here's some WIP pics of my Ork's. I have decided to stick to a military theme and have called the clan " DA PARRAZ".
I was hoping that some of you would help me with the fluff side .
C&C greatly appreciated.

A pretty good start all in all,the Nob and the boy with the Big shoota/horned helmet are particularly nice.
I'd take a bit more care to remove mold lines & is it just me,or are the trukks tires silver?
As for your fluff, they definatly have a Blood axes feel to them,so I'd look into that route, especialy since you like the "military" look.

Thankyou for the quick response,
Alot of the trukk is still to be painted its final colour ( It will be cammo'd) , I drybrush chainmail over a black undercoat when painting Orks as I find it helps pick out the detail for me.
I am going to stick a Landrover door on the drivers side and also a spare wheel to the opposite side to emulate the look of a British Parachute Regiment vehicle.
The mold lines are a pain and tbh I didn't realise they looked so bad until I posted the pics.
Much appreciated.

I strongly dislike the colour scheme, dark green clothes on a model with dark green skin doesnt really work...
If you are stickign to the camo clothing then at least go for a superbright skin, please.

I dont like my orks too bright as I feel they can look a little HULKish (might be the way I paint them), although I do agree that the cammo can get lost in the colour sceme, I still have over 40 more to paint (inc lootaz and Storm Bhoyz) and will probably lighten the skin on a few and also put some in more brighter cammo scemes.
But on the other hand the military blood in me says if the cammo is blending thats the whole point !!!!

I was just thinking the exact opposite! I see so many eye-poppingly green orks that it's very nice to see a dark, grungy, and menacing colouration. The skin does blend into the fatigues a little, but that just adds to the whole effect. Granted, orks aren't generally supposed to understand camouflage (other than Kommandos) but these are definitely what I would imagine the Armageddon orks looking like after however many years of war.
I would just go easy on the metallics. I love them too, but they can overpower a vehicle or model very quickly. Especially if you're going for nice, muted colours like you seem to be.

I'm liking the look to be honest. Very natural cammo. Perhaps the skin does blend a little too much in the pics (due to lighting and quality of camera?) However I completely agree. If you don't get your cammo to blend your features - then there was no point putting cammo on in the first place.
Clever orks! (oxymoron?)
Like the idea or landrover/trukk conversion as well, looking forward to seeing that finished. Maybe some looted maroon berettes as well?
must pic up my paintbrush again....

Great models, and sentiments shared with last couple of posters - its a refreshing change to see darker Orks!

Thanks Guys,
@RP: The Trukk should be finished in time for our next battle, hopefully help the guys get around the board a bit quicker and to you're damned Whirlwind.
Ofcourse there will be Maroon lids mate (as you've already seen on some of the other WIP's I have yet to post )
@Comefindme: It seems there is a healthy divide of those of us who prefer the darker, grimier (spl?) Orks as opposed to those who like the more conventionally painted ones.

I wondered if someone would notice
It is indeed a Fat Face badge Jackarius, I thought it would look good as an Orky type Airborne gliff plate as I thought that Pegasus would be too pretty for savage orks.

OOooOOOOoo I REALLY like the super rusted trukk. I too paint my Orks to have rather rusted equipment. That looks good man. And dont worry about corpsesarefun, hes usually a non pleasent type anyways. You even drilled the barrels of the guns. The only thing I could complain about, it the minis do seem a bit dark all around. But if thats your preference, then go for it

It's been said already, but I'll say it again - the color scheme is really drab. There's no contrast, and it just looks like a dark green mess. That rust is pretty nice though.

Thankyou for the comments guys.
It seems that my orks are a bit like Marmite... you either love em or you hate em.
Let me just say that my photography isn't the best, I'm currently using my Blackberry to take photos as it produces better close up pics than my digital camera, although they still don't do the models justice.

I totally agree! I am going to paint my orks very dark. They are a Goff army, so I want a really dark and gothic feel.

Some updated pics of my Trukk,
it's STILL a WIP i'm afraid as I have found I start one model get it to about 90% complete for the tabletop standard I'm after then get bored/distacted and start painting something else, as I have waaaaay to many unpainted minis ( downside to collecting a hoard force !!!!!).
Henyway without further sinew......
As you can see I still need to paint the crew and I will ........ eventually
Thanks for looking guys.
