What are your favorite variant rules for Space Hulk?

Has anyone tried playing Space Hulk using the map sections from the Doom Board Game? Obstacles or custom pieces are required to have one-space-wide corridors in Doom.

I was thinking of permitting a Flamer Terminator to use a backup weapon when the Flamer was out of fuel. The Heavy Flamer is bulky therefore I was considering a Bolter.

I always enjoyed the variant rules for using non-terminator marines as well as Imperial Guardsmen.
