Hello all, I'm new here and I've seen lots of new interesting models been painted. I havent painted in over 2 years and decided I wanted to paint a Krieg army, so I've done a test paint in photoshop on a blank model. No base texture which sadly makes the model not fit atm.

Heres my model, I went for a different look to the Krieg backstory with the darkness and stuff, went for a rather jungle type look. Kinda waffen camo. It doesnt show that much because its not using paints and it was hard enought to colour the model in that anyway.

Thanks and please comment.

I know it's photoshopped and not actually painted, but I don't really see any colouring at all. It just looks grey to me.

Maybe a quick google search picture to give us a better idea of what you're intending?

I kinda like the grim look. Mabey add mud with some graveyard earth and highlight with some kommando khaki added to the graveyard earth.
And perhaps add a few details in a brighter color, toned down with devaln mud, to blend in with the muddy look and still stand out.

Heres a brighter image, toned up the colour so you can see it more..

I will be adding more to the base, as in muddy ground texture with bits of grass land, and make the clothing at the bottom look more dusty and muddy like alot of the krieg armies others have painted. I will also highlight the model with lighter colours as well, but as it was just a test, I wanted to see the colours and see how they blended in. The model is needed of a highlight yes

I agree that you might want to brighten up at least one of the colors to add some distinction between the different parts. Right now all the colors look very similar and flow together. I think a dark paint job is fine , but the colors need to be visibly different colors and tones.

In the embrace of the great Nurgle, I am no longer afraid, for with His pestilential favour I have become that which I once most feared: Death.

Ah okay that looks much better. I see some nice muted reds and such along with the greys and browns. I think it's a good combination and if you add the suggested muddy detailing I think it will look very nice.

You can always add reflections in the goggles, or plasma/flamer glow if you're feeling adventurous to add a splash of colour to brighten things up. Actually, now that I think about it, a flamer troop where the flames are reflected in the goggles would look ace! Very grimdark indeed.

Yeah well thats what I was heading for, but the photoshop thing didnt plan out as good and I cba going into so much details for the test model, as I said at the top, I'm basing the camo off the Waffen SS camo. Dont ask me why and no I'm not a nazi Since the Krieg have such a german ww1/ww2 side to them, I thought it would be suited pretty well, and I couldnt resist

Pretty much like that, were the black circles are highlighting the camo inside, it will look alot better once there painted up.

Yes I like the sound of that, thanks for the goggle and flame tip, will come in handy!

The Nazis may have had some fethed up ways of doing things (history can be very depressing at times), but they sure knew how to dress!

Anyways, after seeing the scheme on that soldier I am a BIG fan. It's perfect for a dirty, grimy, rusty, wasteland of a war-torn world and I am very much looking forward to some of your models!

I think it looks fantastic! I love the historical style grittiness of it and, as a student of war, I hope you manage to pull it off well!

Just as a quick note, I have put a order in for the Grenadier squad. Since that will fit so much nicer with the name of the Death Korp I gave them. So... I will get painting and get posting up a few when there done. I to cannot wait for the finnish. I am just sat here thinking of new ideas for them. If anyone wants to make some suggestions please post down, I'll be waiting

Quite unarguably Death Korps are the best looking models in the IG army. However painting resin is hard. Also I tend to paint very bright colors. So the dull color style of DK is hard for me. Your work is very nice here.
