hey dakka...

this guy has been sittin' on my table 90% finished for months...
since i'm tryin' to finish a new mini for ebay each week, half-finished minis can't just sit any longer...








this was an experiment to see if i could get a nice Blood Angels scheme with P3 paints...
if tried to create a bit of zenithal lighting, and sharper highlights...
this is the first time that i have taken highlights up to yellow, and then glazed 'em back down with red ink...

the shoulder pad insignias are freehand...
the base is another from Dragon Forge Design...

That is some great painting! The highlighting looks terrific, and I love the modeling of the minis right leg.

Agreed, would love to see more.

Great colour balance - the black draws the eye to the face.
The red is very deep, rich & warm & the highlights don't change the red to orange.
I think the highlighting on the tabbard is more successful than on the weapons but all three are still 'black' rather than going grey & a nice simple base.
Face is also great but for some reason I'm not taken with the hair colour - sorry.

@bubber: you should have seen the hair before...
my yellows were tinged green for some reason...
i saved it with a mid-tone brown, but next time i'll try the 5 o'clock shadow, shaved head, thing...

i've just done my first 5 o'clock shadow on the Lord Commissar...
turned out pretty good for the first try...
he should be up next week...

Great painting job, the freehand is very well done! I personally don't like the face, but that's gotta just be the sculpt and not your paint job. Excellent stuff!
