The Strategy
Captain Sigma will join Gamma Squad. This squad will have the primary role of AI (Anti-Infantry), using the extra CC power of the captain to boost the flamer attacks.

Attack Squad Alpha's squad is to deal with heavy targets. DP's, carnies', etc... The MM in this squad can be split up to join in the AT role, or assist in this role. Their secondary role is to take care of light armor -- landspeeders, truuks, etc...

Omicron and Epsilon have identical roles. They are primary AT with AI (Anti-Infantry) as their secondary role.

Support Squad Thetas role is tank hunting. Having a small footprint (2 models), they can turbo boost without drawing LOS from the entire enemy force. Their role is to take down land-raiders, etc.

The Backstory
When reviewing the UltraMarine force chart, I saw that the 8th company was the assault company -- and of their assets were bikes. This made sense to me that the entire company would occasionally use bikes as their made method of assault, so I devised to craft the army list out of that.

This allows for me to use greek symbols on shoulderpads to define the squads (A problem when your putting 39 nearly identical models on the table) It also fits nicely into the fluff of the army.

I'm a big fan of the grey and blue color scheme as well. I mix some silver in with the grey to give it some flair, and I think it looks good.

Hmm.
Nothing different than the recent spamming of Biker topics and such.

HQ looks fine.
Biker load outs look decent.

Sadly/weirdly the MM ABs in the FA stand out...as if they don't belong. I don't know how to describe it...it just doesn't look like they fit the list.

I prefer my MM's on FA AB's then doubling that.
But that takes points, points that only come out of troopers.

While it's nice to have 4 max squads, I feel it's a bit...congested.

My 7 Cents.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

O H I am in the Webway...

I would truthfully recommend trying to fit some kinda CC command squad in there. That just gives you an edge is you get assaulted or want to assault something.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster and if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you

Fitting a command squad would be nice, but it's not a 'need' basis at 1500 points.

He only needs to be careful with his movement, don't go into a bum rush when he doesn't need to, and have patience before he commits.

It's a shooty list that's mobile, and can charge well enough into combat.
It's not an isolated squad vs. squad, so when he needs to he can commit more than one biker squad into combat as they should be close together.

Etc.

Command Squad is nice counter attack, but army usage can result in not needing them.
It's only at higher points when there are multiple crazy dangerous things that you'd prob. want something along those lines to suppliment decent usage of the rest of the biker list.

I've done well enough with my 1500 list, it only has the Captain's relic blade and 3 powerfists in the whole thing....death by weight of dice: doubltap bolters and charge attacks......obviously more mid range dakka before than.

My 7 Cents.

Thats my thought too. When pushing this list to 1750 or 1850, I will add a command squad and add or lose attack bikes.
At 1500 points, having 450 points tied up in 6 models -- captain and retinue -- just seems a big risk.

As Sanctjud also noted, this is a 'move and shoot' army.
The only time to assault is only when its needed to 'seal the deal'. This is best done with 2-3 squads of bikes all focusing fire on one unit, and then assaulting the remainder to kill them. Thus far the tactic has worked well vs. bezerkers and death company. Once the concentrated fire has lowered the model count from 10 to 2, I've found the biker assault can finish them off.

The flamer squad with the captain can also be used to flank up and assault weak CC units, like guard. I'm looking forward to trying this to see how it works overall -- I just need to find more guard to play against. The reason this squad has the HB vs MM is their main goal is to focus on infantry. It fits the overall role of the unit more.

I could drop the Theta bikes to HB bikes -- and get 20 more points to float around. The question would then be, "What to do with 20 points?".
