So the theme of my army is a Praetorian guard regiment with a detachment of Praetorian militia [civilian fighters from Praetoria] I HATE metal models and wanted to do something slightly more modern. What I came up with is a variation of Praetorians using Cadian models with the pant pockets/shoulderpads shaved, a head swap, and green stuff shoulder accents.

The first part of the build is 40 Penal Legion troops to represent the militia fighters. I used Empire Militia models combined with a ton of IG parts I had laying around. I made sure everybody got at least a canteen and a magazine pouch to keep it in the 40k realm while still maintaining a classic look.

Currently on STAGE 1:
4 squads of Penal Legion comprising of 36 Militia fighters and 4 Praetorian custodians.

I have about 35 assembled right now. Here are a few pics to give you an idea. Since they have no special weapons i'm going to paint them all different variations of a shared color scheme and not designate a squad for each squad taken. On some of my armies i've been big on that but not for this one. I am considering playing them as alrahiem outflanking squads instead of penal legion due to the fact i'd like to model vox casters and have the flamers.

Cool stuff I've done some like that myself and its great fun. For the plastic Praetorians theirs a link in my sig to Wargames Factory who do a Plastic British Firing Line which might serve your needs rather well!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.
