So the theme of my army is a Praetorian guard regiment with a detachment of Praetorian militia [civilian fighters from Praetoria] I HATE metal models and wanted to do something slightly more modern. What I came up with is a variation of Praetorians using Cadian models with the pant pockets/shoulderpads shaved, a head swap, and green stuff shoulder accents.
The first part of the build is 40 Penal Legion troops to represent the militia fighters. I used Empire Militia models combined with a ton of
IG parts I had laying around. I made sure everybody got at least a canteen and a magazine pouch to keep it in the
40k realm while still maintaining a classic look.
Currently on STAGE 1:
4 squads of Penal Legion comprising of 36 Militia fighters and 4 Praetorian custodians.
I have about 35 assembled right now. Here are a few pics to give you an idea. Since they have no special weapons i'm going to paint them all different variations of a shared color scheme and not designate a squad for each squad taken. On some of my armies i've been big on that but not for this one. I am considering playing them as alrahiem outflanking squads instead of penal legion due to the fact i'd like to model vox casters and have the flamers.
