Well My painting isn't the best in the world thats for sure. But like many i'm one of those people who just make a thread because well i wan't people to see my army and see what they think. Right now I'm aiming to make a 2000point Nidzilla list with the options to change it to a zoanthrope nuke choir. Then i did plan to make an endless swarm and stealer shock, but maybe hold of till the next codex i mean what good is 192 gaunts or 72 stealers if stealers get moved to elites or another troops choice appears and gaunts become less useful.

This guy has taken way too long.... (However some idea's people have given me to make my nids look more battle wore or have the carapace stand out will be detailed later gonna test it on some gaunts and then a fex to see how it goes. Hopefully some before and after shots of this and then detailed will come soon.)







Well the Rippers on the base still need to be done. This is my first Nid that i have put Kommando Khaki on the teeth and not left them white. I think it looks good, but i'm thinking maybe pick up a wash or a greeny slime colour to put on the mouth to show drool, bio toxin, whatever.


Now i need a display board for my army.....

IT'S HERE order finally arrived.

Currently-Messing with Carapace details once I start to get the effect I want on some Gaunts I am going to reprime the carapace of Carnifex's and Tyrants AND Hierodule that i've done so far. Also being distracted by Aion and taking extra hours at work to get savings put away for some new harddrives and the tyranid release.

When light is shinning on the back of the minis ( as the shadow seeing its pointing towards you ) only the back of the mini receives the light.

Hmmm I neva noticed that Thanks will keep it in mind to make sure the model is directly under the light next time i take pictures.

Then only the top of the mini will have light .

Try to keep it behind you like over your shoulder , then it should light where your eye sees.

Ummm I think i got what ya talking about i might retake some pictures as i see what you mean a lot of the pictures most of the model has shadow were the detail is.

Thread has been reconstructed. Pictures retaken with no shadow cept hierodule seems to look really dark because of white spray.

As one nid player to another those gaunts are going to take a LONG time. GL.

Yup I get bored after like washing 3 gaunts at the moment i dread getting 96 spine gaunts and 96 hormagaunts to make an apocaylse endless swarm. But hey noone ever said being a wargamer was easy except my parents

Indeed, I hate people who complain about codex schemes and give you crap for being "unoriginal".

...not that that's what you were doing, I'm just saying I hate that.

Anyway, I uh...never realized before that this thing actually had eyes. For some reason it looks a lot uglier to me now that I know that. Anyway, it looks pretty good, but overall the model kinda looks flat. The red claws/horns don't seem to have any shading or highlighting and the white is too clean. I'd suggest maybe a heavily watered down sepia wash or something. But that's just my opinion though, I wouldn't complain if it were left as is.

Yeah my friend suggested that before, I wonder if blazing orange on the spikes would bring it would bring it out never heard of that sepia wash. But i agree completely just when i try to high detail i usually end up making the model worse. I argee with you 100% on everything though. The model looks clean when the detail shows bullet holes and stuff in the carapace.

*edit* Nids being uglier is always a good thing.

The nid's paint is very crisp and clear well done i, personally, really like it.

But... (always a but) The white could be a little smoother.

Is that model at the top a standard GW carnifex? I don't think i've seen a big mouthed/headed one like that before, and I want one for a diorama

I notice a lot of people they either like the first time about to go into war look or rough i've been fighting for months
I'm gonna try rough it up a bit looking at the Tyranids codex it seems bloody impossible to get it as smooth as the scheme there.

Nice job, altough at the end of the plates I would have used dry-brushed black instead of gray.

Yeah although at the moment the carapace goes from black, purple, 3/4 purple 1/4 fortress grey, then a fortress grey edging. I'm thinking of attempt the streaking effect. They use in the codex mostly but will have to try it on a carnifex first before i mess around with this guy.

No problem If you played me you'd know what a carnifex is after seeing 6 on them on the table

I like your purple - love purple bugs! For the new Dex - do you really think they will nerf Gaunts so much as to make them absolete? I mean - theyre reboxing them and you cant order the 16 gaunt box from their site.... I look at that as an indicator that they will BE MORE relevant. I think GW is looking to them to be a cash cow. As far as not putting together and painting Nids now.... hmm the formations will still be relevant in Apoc games... so keep painting

Really Gaunts are absolete right now in my opinon. Hopefully with the points drop taking brood of 32 that have without number will make points back either as a tarpit or constantly assaulting the same target and forcing saves.

Oh and you wanted someone to shout it so...
