This is RAW according to what I've read.
Okay maybe I've missed something, but from everything I've read a normal skimmer can only move 12"
BGB Page 71 wrote:Skimmers follow the normal rules for vehicles, with the additions and exceptions given below.
But a Fast Skimmer can move 24"
BGB Page 71 wrote:A skimmer that is also fast and is moving flat out can move up to 24".
My RAI interpretion would be:
Now a normal vehicle that is fast can move 18" and up to 24" on a road, so being a skimmer is like always being on a road, and that is how we got to a fast skimmer being able to move up to 24", so a normal skimmer would be like being on a road, and thus be able to move 18"
Is it just me or is this a glaring oversight.
How do you guys play it?

Skimmer = 12" move.
Fast skimmer = 24" move.
Don't try to bring roads into it.

What? It is very clear.
Vehicles: 12"
Skimmers: 12"
Fast Vehicles: 18"
Fast Skimmers: 24"
Seriously, what the hell is your "RaI" Interpretation? it is NOTHING like what the rules say.

pg 57 "Roads".
Skimmers do not get bonus movement for roads.
So 12", unless fast. Or ponderous. Or red. Or whatever.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying. Skimmers certainly don't move 18" base.
|
Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

Okay why do fast skimmers suddenly get a 6" bonus to movement. I'm saying it doesn't make sense, and it is almost an after thought. That's what prompted the poll. I wanted to see if others had made this mistake, and wondered why fast skimmers suddenly got at 6" bonus movement from a one liner in the skimmer section. I only play fast skimmers so it's not an issue for me, but I was talking with a tau buddy and was like why don't you move 18", and he said it wasn't in the rules, and sure enough it wasn't. Just wanted to see if others were playing it 18" movement for normal skimmers, under an RAI thought process. Automatically Appended Next Post: Orkeosaurus wrote:I'm not quite sure what you're saying. You are correct they have a base of 12"
Fast Skimmers should have a base of 18" under the fast rules, but suddenly they have 24" like they were always moving on a road, and why they are excluded from the road rules.

Originally all fast vehicles could move 24", and all other vehicles moved 12".
It's actually dropping regular fast vehicles to 18" that was the afterthought, and I still couldn't tell you why they did it.

Skimmers are excluded from the road rule.
fast can move 18" unless on a road and can move 24"
fast skimmer can move 24"
I think it is obvious how anyone could come to the conclusion that skimmers act as if they are always on a road and get a 6" bonus movement. I'm sorry you can't draw connections like that, and have to try and be insulting when you do it.

Good enough for me. Being that 5th is the first edition that I've actually played, coming from a new player perspective. You could see the confusion in this manner, could you not.

Fast skimmers get a speed boost, by going flat out - that's it. None fast skimmers cannot go this grade at all therefore are limited to 12"
You have NO basis for "RAI" what so ever
