I'm getting ready to play planetstrike for the 1st time and my Ork Attackers have Nobs with a DT battlewagon.

In a Planetstrike: Sustained Assault Does the unit come back in with Dedicated transport?

Obviously in would be a big deal as it would add a free BW. The Nobs are the only troops (I have Mega Nobs I was going to use this on but if I don't get the BW back they are a screwed). With the unit coming back I will try and send them in on hard targets to get them killed off to bring them back.

So has anyone run into this yet?

Also I imagine the players with nob bikes with run this to screw over people pretty bad in tournements. Just when you think your rid of them they come back.

Firstly, no TO in their Right mind would run a "Competitive" Planetstrike tournament.

Secondly, no they do not get the BW. The Stratagem says pick a Single Troops Unit, not a Single Troops FoC. The same way as MANz and BW are 2 Units for DoW, they are 2 Units in Planetstrike.

Though with the way it is worded one could nominate the Battlewagon itself to return, just not the MegaNobs at the same time as Gwar noted.

Of course, with the game being Planetstrike you should probably just talk it over with your opponent beforehand - that expnsion is wild and wooly on the rules and really whatever the two of you agree on goes.

In a tourney situation (which oddly enough we did have a Planetstrike one locally, so clearly our TO isn't in his right mind) always talk to the TO and find out how he reads the rule.

Yes, selecting Nob Bikers would be a very competitive use of the Stratagem.

Would the same hold true if the unit is required to be given a DT?

Yes. Just because it must have a DT, does not make them a single Unit. A Troops unit with a Mandatory DT would still count as both Troops Units in DoW. I actually cannot think of any Troops that have a mandatory Transport off the top of my head, which makes the point moot anyway.

Not to derail that thread (I came close!), do you know what a moot point is?

It is one of the most abused words I can think of.
It means either worth talking about, or not worth talking about, depending on when/where used.

Debatable, or not worth debate.

BAH!!!!!

(I am assuming you actually do, but I have sort of a grudge against moot points, and have brought up that phrase regularly - even to my boss in the middle of a meeting once. LOL)

Well, actually, Moot Point in the UK means "An issue that is subject to, or open for discussion or debate; originally, one to be definitively determined by an assembly of the people." while in the US it is taken to mean "An issue regarded as potentially debatable, but no longer practically applicable. Although the idea may still be worth debating and exploring academically, and such discussion may be useful for addressing similar issues in the future, the idea has been rendered irrelevant for the present issue."

In this instance I was using the US Definition, as at posting there was to my knowledge no Troops Unit with a Mandatory Dedicated transport. However, I now remeber that the Dark Eldar have the Raider Squad, but I still declare the issue a Moot Point (US) as no-one plays Dark Eldar anyway

I could care less what you think of misused phrases.
