Has anyone tried using these with 5 scouts onboard?
If so, what role have you found them good at?

Objective grabbing -- Moving in from reserve to grab objectives
Tank hunting -- Using a PF on sergeant to open vehicles
Firing Platform -- Bolters in squad plus HB on speeder

Boltesrs can only rapid fire when moving so if you want mobile get shotguns if you want as you can charge out (cerberus launchers FTW), or snipers stayying still to add a little extra toughness to the unit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you move and shoot rapid fire weapons twice if your within 12" You just cannot assault with them.
Marines on a landspeeder would not be assaulting anyway soo....

I do like the idea of using it as a sniping platform. That sounds like it might be really useful if used from long range.

Battle Creek, MI

Fielded two of these last night with scout squad against an IG army, load out was like this

Land Speeder Storm w/ multi-melta -65pts
Scout Squad w/ Combi-melta, meltabombs - 90pts

had 2 of each

I got first turn, scout-moved flat-out within 12" of two Leman Russ tanks (Executioner and Punisher) First turn moved up 12" more to get side armour shot on tanks, disembarked scouts. One land speeders melta slagged the first tank. Second one missed (stupid 3 BS) but combi-melta on sgt. slagged second Russ. Shortly after that both scouts squads and storms were KIA

310 points killed a Leman Russ Exterminator with Lascannon and multi-melta sponsons and a Leman Russ Executioner with same kit out so.... 310 to 410 but the mission was Annihilation so I gave up 4 points for 2... the sacrifice those poor scouts made probably saved many Battle brothers but am still kind up in the air about the Storms.

My tactic as a sniper platform was deply 12 inches from your firing point and then scout move to that point.

This pushes enemy infiltrators back but doesn't effect anything else.

They ended up losing pretty much a whole squad of guant's before it wen't down.

They then lost most of their synapse to sniping and missiles

The eye of terror.

They're most useful as an alpha strike combo, as General Chaos described. However, they're only super-good if your opponent has a lynch-pin unit that is vulnerable to melta-bombs.

If your opponent's lynchpin is nob bikers or a jetbike seer council you're SoL as the scouts aren't going to accomplish much.

I have 3 Storms, and like em with HFs. BS is unimportant, and the Scouts can get 1st turn charges off against some nice armies. Combine the 3 Sqauds of 5 as necessary. Tau just have a hard time dealing with this ^^.

3000 points.
5000 points and still growing when GW adds something cool.
3500 points centered around 25 Terminators and 12 Dreadnoughts
500 points and just started.

5 Warlords / 5 Reavers / 4 Warhounds of the Legio Pallidus Mor.
