Hey guys!

I pretty much JUST finished putting together my very first set of miniatures (Assault on Black Reach) - haven't even started painting 'em yet - and am pretty excited about starting to get serious...

However, I find myself fairly overwhelmed. I was just wondering if there was a section on this website/forum specifically for helping new players start out? Haven't had much luck finding them, but I have found some awesome articles posts that I can actually understand. (This is difficult as I have very limited internet time/access).

Anywho, really glad I signed up, and I look forward to figuring this thing out

Welcome! There is plenty of stuff in the articles to help, a vast range of tutorials as well (from the recent competition held - well worth checking all of those out), and everyone one is friendly (most of the time - seriously, there are very few full time trolls here) so just ask (best to be specific tho)!

I recommend trawling though some of the galleries, finding some paintjobs you like (and you think you can replicate - dont be scared off by some of the amazing freehand work out there), and leaving a comment asking how they did it. Many people will go out of their way to help!

So AoBR - you doing orks or marines or both? decided colour schemes?

@Everyone - thanks for the guidance and introductions!

@darkkt - AoBR I'm going to try out both, as soon as I find a friend willing to learn the rules with me. I might just man up and head down to the hobby shop down the street - I'm in good standing with the folks down there, but I'm still too chickenshit to show how much of a newb I am.

For the orcs, I'm going to do goblin green and attempt a light black wash over the skin, with an assortment of black, rust and brown to highlight their gear.

For the marines, I'm still undecided - I want to be able to convert them to CSM eventually, so probably a color scheme that I can easily make into Khorne or Thousand Sons.
