OK so i dont know if i did the poll quite right but I am trying to do daemons on the cheap (or at least not as expensive) so would you convert any/all of them. I am personally thinking Cold Ones as Fiends and Ghouls as Horrors, with the possibility of Dryads as flamers although I do like the flamer models. Also any other conversions anyone has heard of? You can choose more than one option by the way if you want to. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_SJlNbnnVRhY/Sa18uLixtQI/AAAAAAAAAi0/7WYUnQZ4WBU/s1600-h/PICT1416.JPG Cold One Fiend or http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/obeisance/daemons/spiderfiend.jpg Spiderfiend http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_tjkQUZ9f9gk/SgNB7E-hvGI/AAAAAAAAAl4/1JoF87A6wa4/s1600-h/Horrors.JPG Dryad Horrors or http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y246/Cycel/Horrorstest.jpg Ghoul Horrors http://www.grendelslair.org/Images/Wordbearers/Flamers01.jpg Flamers

I'm not a fan of the Ghoul Horrors.. I've seen them WAY too much.

Would I, hell I have.
-Cold ones as Demonette Cav.
-Dark Elf wyches as demonettes
-Bags of meat with tentacles as nurglings
-Belakor as Bloodthirster
-Tzeentch sorceror and Ahriman as Tzeentch Heralds
-Chaos Knights and Bloodcrushers (oh I so love these)
there have been several threads with conversions in similar manner to the poll, and they are excellent.

The cold ones are good but the saddles aren't that nice on them.

They all look good to me. There are plenty of really nice daemon conversions out there, as well as plenty of piss poor ones.

I very much like the Dryad-based conversions. I've got a special conversion in mind for my Lesser Daemons...
I also like the Ghoul Plaguebearer conversions, but I don't see them as standing in for Horrors of Tzeentch.

I actually use spider'nettes as Seekers, and Confrontation Wolfen/Hyenas as Fiends. I also use confrontation Fiannas, Scarabs and others as my Daemonettes... and that is NOT a way to do Daemons on the cheap.
That said, I'd go with the Spiders as fiends.

So there are a few votes for dryads as both horrors and flamers how would you differentiate them, besides the obvous painting differences. Or would you just do one or the other?

Hi,
I voted Spider Fiends and Dryad Horrors
Where does that spider fiend pic come from by the way? I've seen plenty of drider style conversions online but most of them look terrible, that's the best I have seen. I'm toying with the idea of doing something similar myself.
I don't really like the Cold One Fiends, they just don't look big or scary enough to match the Fiend profile, and don't look Slaaneshi at all.
So there are a few votes for dryads as both horrors and flamers how would you differentiate them, besides the obvous painting differences. Or would you just do one or the other?
Just do one or the other. Doing them as Horrors makes more sense becuase you'll have bigger units and also because it's the more common substitution.
Unless you're being unusual and doing a big unit of Flamers, you only need a few so buying metals isn't a big issue (although they are a pain to assemble, but not as much as Horrors!)

First they were actually on dakka when I searched for fiend conversions.
Also I just liked the way the dryad flamers looked, I thought they looked really good painted thet way, of course I can paint them that way and say they are horrors so not a big deal. The other reason why I like the ghoul horrors is that it is cheaper, but yeah I only really want a squad of 3 so actually buying flamers would be cheaper but like i said i liked the way the dryad flamers look.

I have also heard about using a balrog as a bloodthirster, but you might need a different head, has anyone done that and what head did you use. I would assume I would try to see if a thirster head fit or maybe a daemon prince IDK? Also does anyone have a good tutorial on how to sculpt armor? I think a balrog with armor and a different head would look pretty 40k and be unique.
