Although there is the Hell Cannon and Marauder Horsemen can throw axes and spears there is no shooting in a Chaos Army. Long time nerds will remember when Chaos had shooting (and when you could use Bloodstones and have 10 Thirsters running around). Now, I know they just re did the book, and I am not complaining as I like the new army book, but what do you think in regards to Chaos having bows/crossbows as options in a future book? Is it blasphemy? Is it cool? Too uber? Anti-fluff? Thoughts?
Nah, Chaos are brutal enough in CCIMO. Unless you wanted to include Chaos Dwarves as a core or special unit that could be armed with rifles, that would be cool.

In my head i see this cool scenario of huge armor clad warriors with huge gothic bows darkening the sky with arrows! But in praxis thats not necessary, I'm happy with my Chaos Warriors just the way they are, shooting would be

Back in the days of yore, the armies, whilst unbalanced, all had a bit of everything. Thugs and beastman bowmen for example in the truly ancient unified chaos armies I played from the original twin tome Realm of Chaos produced for 3rd ed WHFB. It's no longer the case and certain things are good and certain things annoy the blind gak out of me.
Taking ranged units like bowmen out of the chaos army gave the army direction. To me, Chaos should be about a few things, massed horrible things in hordes marching to get you and a mix of everything odd and nasty. So I don't object to the removal of shooting from chaos, I verymuch object to the neat army orders they've created splitting the army into 3 separate armies (daemon, mortal and beastman), chaos was never that 'ordered'... It should be one superarmy if you ask me.
If it included bowmen at all, they should be marauders using shortbows with S+1 (to represent composite bows) they should be cavalry or foot but there should be a comparative unit to accompany them (ie, 0-1 bow unit marauders per 1 unit of standard armed unit marauders, bow unit must be <half size of standard unit model wise, if mounted, ><third size).>
I like the idea of a chaos warrior wielding a crossbow. But a warrior with a bow just seems a little.. un-brutally? A bow is a fine piece of weapon, whilst the crossbow is more brute force.

But a composite short bow, made of animal horn, bone and sinew, especially like the Mongolian bows, would seem far more in keeping for Northern barbarians than something as complicated and slow and unwieldy as a crossbow. Plus the actual Warriors of chaos shouldn't have them I feel, it should be the marauder tribesmen. You really don't want your warriors standing about taking shots, they need to be marching forward to close with the enemy. 4k ppsi pressure... Fired mounted or on foot, light, durable and fast to reload (seconds compared to minutes for a crossbow).

Total Mongol Horde tactics of mounted horsemen peppering clunky infantry from the flanks and then taking off when pursued. I thought a bolt thrower on a chariot would be awesome too.
Cool to see that rate of fire. Wish the video had an "after" shot to show how accurate all that was.
