Hey guys, got a question about the company champion in a command squad. His entry states he's a veteran that becomes a company champion if you pay 15 points. My question is, when this happen does he lose his bolt pistol and his frag and krak grenades, also, can he take any other wargear before or after he becomes a company champion?

A company Champion is a Company Champion, not a veteran. he does not lose the grenades, but loses the Bolt Pistol but may not buy any other items, as he will lose them when he is upgraded.

In other words, a Company Champion has a Power Weapon, Combat Shield, Frag and Krak and Power Armour. Nothing else.

Although, one could argue he does actually keep it, thus meaning he is equipped with a BP, Chainsword, Power Weapon and Combat Shield >.>

So anyway, what is certain is that he cannot have any extra equipment, what is not certain is if he has a BP or not.

Well, he physically has a bolt pistol modeled on the back of his combat shield, I don't know if that counts for something or not. Also, it doesn't actually say he replaces his chain sword and bolt pistol, but rather gains a combat shield and power sword. One would assume that it would be a replacement, but I think raw argues otherwise.

You are right there, it isn't particularly clear. I would say that he does actually keep his old wargear now I get my codex out and read.

However what is clear is that he cannot have any other equipment, as he is not a Veteran.

Codex vulcan, er codex SM doesnt say a veteran replaces anything to be a company champion.

The veteran gets promoted to company champion ( altered stats ) and gets a power weapon and a combat shield.

He replaces nothing.

Ok, well then I've been playing it right then. This would also make him be able to use his bolt pistol and power sword to gain a +1 to attack bonus for 2 weapons then right? Or does he fall under the rule of having too many weapons to gain the bonus?

Now that is a good Point. The rules are for 2 Special Weapons, the Champion has 2 Normal CCW and a Special CCW.
