Is it a good time to be starting warmachine/hordes?
It's as good a time as any as long as you are aware of these things.
1) Units that previously were fieldable from 6-10 models in size are only going to be fielded with 6 or 10 models in MkII. No in between. So don't buy 8 models for a unit.
2) This is easier to explain with an example. Let's say you really like Trenchers for some reason. Don't go crazy and buy 3 units of them only to find out they get nerfed and your opinion of them changes. Still, even if they do get nerfed, they'll still have their uses, but maybe it's only worth getting 1 unit. See what I'm getting at? Don't buy multiples of the same item in case things change drastically. By the way, this is a hypothetical situation. I haven't heard about any potential Trencher nerf.
Would you suggest I wait for the MK2 rules before buying any warmachine stuff?
Not really. Most of the core rules will stay the same. Even if all you get is the starter box to familiarize yourself with the gameplay and a few other things, you'll be fine. If anything, playing now will give you a better idea of what to purchase when MkII finally does drop.
So anyway with my mind on to hordes I wanted to know, what each races play style is and which you would suggest for a newbie like me?
Play whichever faction you like the models and background of the most. All of the Hordes factions are equally challenging. As for play styles, I will reference you to
Battle College.
Also after seeing some of the awesome lesser warcaster minions such as Wrong eye,I was wondering how effective they are?(not just wrong eye but the lesser casters as a whole).
The only one I have experience with is Brun and Lug. They take down heavy targets by themselves very well, but need a little help against infantry. I take them only with my Searforge merc army even though they work for my Circle army. I find that after spending points on the warbeasts my main warlock needs, I need to get infantry to be my anti-infantry (or just change my main warlock to Krueger). If I get something else that will only kill 1 or 2 models a turn, I will be easily overwhelmed by enemy infantry swarms.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, from my limited experience with the lesser warlocks, they do their job well. Just don't take them if they leave a huge hole in your list.
Forgive my long string of questions to which I assume will be an equal long string of answers. Thanks for all your help in advance.
No problem, and Welcome to the Machine!
