So im back were i started with my 40k career with the wolves as It was the first army i started back in 2ed.

Im using my chaos models for parts for my new wolves as they are med upp of chaoa/marine/wolf parts.

What im going for with my wolves is to make al the models look like individuals, and im thinking that i wanth the models to have more wolf stuff and individualized dependent on their age and status. Grey hunters having more stuff on them than blood claws for example and so on. (we will se how that goes as the army starts to take shape)

This army is also a way for me of learning how to use green stuff. Its nice when you se your own progression in the use of green stuff. First wolf pelt i ever made is the one on the grey hunter with the chain sword(mk6 legs) and the fourth one i made is the grey hunter standing on a sholder pad (going to be replaced with a thousand sons pad) which is simillar to the ones on the wolf guard as i changed the way i did them after the first two.

Models will get painted and put togheter in random order. Will convert and paint wathever i feal like doing at the moment of doing it. Did that sentence make any sense?

Now enough with the talking and on with the pics!

First of som Grey hunters i have been working on (Sholder pads will come on after the body has been painted)

One lonly Blood claw

And the first of my Wolf guard which i sadly cannot finish before i get the codex because i dont know how i what weapons to give him.

His cloak

Nice shoulder pad, are you going to cast this so you can produce more? or individually make each one?

Not going to cast it becausse of two reasons.
1: I dont have the equipment to cast stuff
2: Its a terminator sized shoulder pad and will only fitt "true scale" models and im not planing to have more that max three of them as i wanth them to stand out a bit.

Complet the Wolf Guard today.

There are some beauty ( < accidentally typed "butt" there the first time ) misses that i just spotted, but it will do fine anyways.

What bugs me a little bit is that the yellow stripe on the front of the wolf guard emblem looks a little wierd, or maybe i need to change the shape of the black triangel.

Brilliant work. I think your problem witht he yellow stripe is that the black triangles aren't parrallel to each other, creating a skewed effect.

Thanks guys!

Have two more in the works and one termi with cyclone launcher plus one dreadnought that i have some ideas for.
Termi will be like the one in the codex becaouse i realy liked the way it looked but with a different set of legs and thicker waist. ( Im at least hoping for a thicker waist )

@CommissarKhaine
Made in be I think your right. Il probably stick with 3 black triangles on the bottom side in the future. At least on the shoulders without trims.

I thought it is about time for a little update on whats going on so il post a pic of a wip soon to be cyclone terminator that i have painted in betwen working with my dreadnought and the two wolf guard.

It will get some minor battle damage when its done. I'm thinking a scare or two over the eye lens for example.

I have found myself realy enjoying painting space wolves because of the variation in colors used and al the nice and different details.

And a question.
Do anyone know if its possible to order just one mkIV dreadnought foot from FW? I seem to have lost one of his feet.
I thought i would ask here before emailing FW as i dont wanth to build myself a new foot if i dont have to.

Bad ass, seriously. Especially the painted Wolf Guard with the axe. Speaking of, where did the axe come from? Is it the Chaos Termie Lord axe?

Also, could you tell us your process for colouring that shade of grey power armour? Looks suitably cool and Space Wolf'ish (really dont like the powder ice blue that's in the new 'dex)

The Wolf guard was first painted and washed with badab black but didnt look the same as the test model did and i found it hard to do touch ups were i had been sloppy, so i painted a new base color similar to the one already painted on it over the old one and tried to keep the highlighting because i dind't want to strip it and do it al over. I just wanted to get it done and move on to something new.

The termi is painted with a base color of:
2 parts shadow grey, 1 part spacewolves grey, 1 part codex grey over a black undercoat.
Highlights are:
1 part base color to 1 part spacewolves grey in 2 highlits and last a very thin spacewolves grey highlight on some places.

Shading is done with a wash made of:
1 part shadow gery wash and 1 part badab black wash with a pure badab black wash in the deeper recesses or were i felt it appropriate because i wanted to bring out some bits a liytle more.

The bronze/gold bits are just burnished gold with 2 washes of gryphonne sepia and a highlight of burnished gold.

The axe is in fact from the Chaos termi lord. Atleast the front part, the rear part of the axe is the bottom part of the sorcerers staff from the same box.

And by the way, this is the third model i painted this year and since 2004.

great job honestly as space wolves can be a pain to paint and make look good, but you did a wonderful job.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I found that out when i started painting. Finding a nice color that looked good was a pain, it took me over a week of blending and testing, blending and testing and striping becasue the paint on the test minies got to thick to find a nice base color to compliment the rest of the colors i wanted to use that i would be happy with.

I seldom ever ask but what colors and layering did you do to end up with that grey.

4 posts upp from this one descibes what colors i used to get the grey.
It is advisable to blend in less codex grey to strat with and work your way upp by adding a little codex grey at a time because the grey pigments have a tendency to dominate the blue with just a little to much grey and it turns into grey realy fast.
Its a fine line betwen having it turnout bluish grey or grey.

Its painted over a black undercote and took about 3 coats to get i right and then highlighted it.

My two wolf guard wip

This one is going to have a large wolf pelt hanging over its shoulder, head on the left shoulderguard, tail on the right with paws hanging down front and back, i then hope to extend the pelt into a cloak on the back.
He is going to be armed with a thunder hammer resting over the right shoulder. Going to enlarge the thunder hammer a bit so it will look like a two handed weapon

Next is the angry wolf gouard, he is angry because someone shot him in the head and he hade to discard his helmet which will lie on the base and paint some blood on his face.
He will have outstretched arms like he is screaming a challenge, axe in one arm, double edged chainsword in the other.
I really surprised myself (in my opinion) of how well the hair and beard turned out considering iv never done anything like that before.

And lastly the dreadnought. (head is not glued on)
Something looks odd with the green on the skin, i think its the part just below and right of wolf scull in the center that im having problems with..

Hope you like them!

Thanks!

Im trying to get my greenstuff fu to get better.
I didn't have a lote of practice with green before this log and im using it to get better at it.

I found some of my realy old stuff to, frome 2ed i think and my first greenstuff thing i ever did. It was sopposed to be tentacles on a chaos metall termi but it more resembles pinc wiggly sausages when i look at it now.
I will post some pics of my old stuff later on just for fun.

By the way, while i was attempting to make myself i nice looking dubbleedged chainsword i accidentaly made it a two handed version that i will have in mind on later minis.
