Nurgle Veteran Marine with the Flu

I was wondering what to put on my HW squads, considering that they are for my starting guard army, and that they are in the IG Battleforce. I am going against nids and I dont want to completely destroy him first turn.
Any suggestions, I'm going for a 500 pt army but I will expand.

I'd say Heavy Bolters. However, it depends on what your opponent is fielding. In a 500 points game, it ought to be mostly basic infantry, so Bolters should get you far. If he is up to sending bigger nasties, you should perhaps take Missile Launchers.

I would say missile launchers or autocannons. Dont forget your outflanking stormtroopers with flamers to pare down those hordes!

Autocannons are great for just about everything. If you're playing 500 points (combat patrol size) you probably won't be facing Land Raiders and the like. Autocannons' strength 7 should break most light vehicles and heavy infantry.

Consider mortars. They're cheap, better able to hide, and their blasts can threaten massed infantry.

Autocannons are a good one, especially if you're wanting a fluffy Cadian army(since their preferred weapons were Grenade Launchers and Autocannons).
The stats on them though, mean that they can be dual purpose for taking down MCs/Synapse critters and against armies fielding light vehicles, they can be quite nasty there too.
