Hey all. Im just barely gettin into this game (havn't even chosin an army yet).
If you guys don't mind me askin, whats the best way for me to start up? Ive read several of the 40k books and so far im leaning more toward Imperial Guard or space wolves (more toward the space wolf side). When i walked into a store yesterday some guy said they are coming out with a whole new space wolf setup next month and in the meantime buy asault on blackreach thing just to get a feel. I i did choose to buy that can those models be turned into space wolf figures or would they be useless when/if i choose to full space wolf?

Sorry fir the amount of questions but im still trying to get into this and most of the stuff ive yet to really get a grasp of.

Pat that askala, O-H-I hate this stupid state

No the space marines that are in the box can be used as space wolves and then if you want you could sell the orks that come with to further support your army. BTW welcome to dak dak.

Welcome to Dakka! AOBR isn't a bad way to go, but I personally don't care for the models in the box. From my experiences IG are just wiping people off the table, its terrifying! But yeah, since SW is coming out soon that might make it a bit different.

How is it they live in such harmony - the billions of stars - when most men can barely go a minute without declaring war in their minds about someone they know.

My first models were from Assault on Black Reach and they make really good generic Space Marine tactical squads of any chapter. Plus there's the aforementioned orks that you can trade for yet more Marines, maybe some bikes or assault troops - you can certainly diversify your options.

Also, if you've priced out Terminators and dreadnoughts at all, you'll find that the price for Black Reach is pretty darn good, given the cost to purchase the units otherwise.

Welcome to Warhammer 40k, and to Dakka Dakka.
