I want to know if a warboss can join a kommando unit and get the ambush rule if snikrot is with the kommandos? I haven't seen anything that says the warboss wouldn't, but someone said he couldn't because he doesn't have infiltrate. Since ambush isn't infiltrate that didn't make sense. Can anyone clarify?

Nothing currently, got out of the hobby, maybe getting back in?

I would think so, since he doesn't "acquire" the Ambush rule. The rule simply states that the Kommando unit and Snikrot may be placed in reserves and if the Kommando unit is held in reserves, that they may be deployed onto any table edge. It doesn't say anything about infiltrating, outflanking, scouting or otherwise. It simply says "reserves".

Absolutely. The ambush rule says you come on from reserves from any board edge (the "unit" does this). If you join any ICs to that unit, they also ambush.

Alright cool. I just wanted to make sure before I did it in a tournament.

It is perfectly fine Rulewise.

BTW, if you are going to a tournament, there is no point asking here. You have to ask the TO if they will allow it or if they are using the INAT FAQ

Gwar, I don't know why they wouldn't allow it. It's a powerful thing, but you're still spending a lot on snikrot+kommandos to deliver an IC, and it seems to me the rule are quite clear that you could do it.

Because it is a debatable rule.

Many people and tourneys (Adepticon, most notably) rule that Ambush is a unit special rule (because Snikrot is only available as an upgrade to a Komanndo unit) that does not specificly state that it effects ICs.

Definately ask the TO, because it is such a hotly debated issue. If you know they are using the INAT FAQ, then they diefinately will not allow it.

Because it is always good to ask TO's about potential issues?
Especially before hand - and hopefully before you make a list.

Stranger rulings have been made.

I didn't realize it would be an issue, tbh.

Wow... Really?
It has been hotly debated ever since 5th came out. The only thing that has been more intensly debated in the Ork dex is the Deffrollas/Ramming issue.

Unfortunnately, GW still hasn't made any official clarification on either issue, thus forcing Ork players to continually check with TOs before making their lists.

The moral of the story is this: All ork players must contact TOs prior to events, so that they can make the optimal list for each individual tourney.

Yeah, it's a local gaming store so it should be good. Will ask though.

You might want to ask about 'soft scores' too.

Ambushing Biker bosses have long ago made the tourney rounds and places have either banned them via INAT or basically will ding your army comp/sportsmanship so bad that even if you win all 3 games you can't win overall.

At a 'ard boyz tourney, I would expect this and most people would accept it. In a tourney with 'soft scores' prepare to have your Sportsmanship and Army Comp damaged by trying to do Ambush Biker Boss or Ambush Ghazghkull regardless of the legality of it.

Except that the next part of 'ard Boys uses the INAT FAQ, which disallows it.

Get it here

A lot of TOs use it as the basis for their rulings, it's quite comprehensive and regularly updated, though it makes some hotly debated rules calls.

EDIT: Code. Clarity.
