Six Ironclads are scary.
But only two minimum Scout units as scoring units. That's not enough.

you could shave points by only taking three locator beacons (you really won't need any more than that). I believe they are 35 points each. that extra 105 points could get you another scout squad.

I have a love /hate relationship with anything green.

I wouldn't bother with more than 3 Ironclads, and I'd use them as your first wave to apply instant pressure to the opposing line. They'll probably have to attempt to deal with them in most circumstances, and they can be touch to deal with. I'd take the rest of the points saved and pick up a pair of tac squads with MM/Fl/PF coming down in pods as well. Drop them laterin the game and use them to land on and hold objectives.

Take 5 ironcloads and get some small tac squads in pods.

Try this:

HQ

Master of the Forge:[120]
Conversion Beam

Troops

Tactical squad:[205]
Flamer, multi-melta, Drop pod

Tactical squad:[205
Flamer, multi-melta, Drop pod

Elites

Ironclad Dreadnought:[180]
Drop pod

Ironclad Dreadnought:[180]
Drop pod

Heavy Support

Ironclad Dreadnought:[180]
Drop pod

Ironclad Dreadnought:[180]
Drop pod

Ironclad Dreadnought:[180]
Drop pod

Thats 1.5k

Loss' list looks better.
Although I'd be inclined to replace the multimeltas with missile launchers.

With the prfusion of Meltas in everyone's armies those dreads will get to drop and kill maybe one thing before being popped/melted.

rethought the list and heres my new idea

HQ1 vulkan hestan - the twn linked meltas and flamers is the reason why
HQ2: master of the forge with beamer

Elite 1 : dreadnought with multi melta and dread CCW and heavy flamer in a drop pod
Elite 2 : dreadnought with multi melta and dread CCW and heavy flamer in a drop pod
Elite 3 : dreadnought with multi melta and dread CCW and heavy flamer in a drop pod

Troop 1: 10 man tac squad with multi melta and flamer and sgt with combi melta
Troop 2: 10 man tac squad with multi melta and flamer and sgt with combi melta

Heavy 1: ironclad dreadnought with seismic hammer and dreadnought ccw and heavy flamer in a drop pod with locator beacon and deathwind missle launcher

Heavy 2: ironclad dreadnought with seismic hammer and dreadnought ccw and heavy flamer in a drop pod with locator beacon and deathwind missle launcher

Heavy 3: ironclad dreadnought with seismic hammer and dreadnought ccw and heavy flamer in a drop pod with locator beacon and deathwind missle launcher

that looks a little better

What are the locator beacons for?

the locator beacons are for the other 3 dreads that will drop in late game

There drop pods, the units inside are pretty much safe wherever you drop them.

You only need locator beacons on half of those pods, as only half will have a use, IRC you drop 1/2 of your pods 1st turn and the other half on 2nd turn probly wrong bt i dont have my codex infront of me.

Save your self some points, deathwinds can be annoying but are easy to avoid and are weak (12" range str 4 ap 6 IRC), keep with the storm bolters.

If you drop all the locator bacon and deathwinds you can probly get drop pods for your tac squads and servitors for your MotF.

Conversion beamers can be useful but in a list with 6 dreads you might wana go with the harness and use the MotF to fix up your dreads when the weapons start poping off and they start getting immobile

Hehehe...

I'm not a fan of drop-pod dread spam lists. I see little wrong with yours except there are 6 Dreads. Why not just take 3 Ironclad, then Tac squads in Pods to come later? Tac squads are a nice thing to have later in the game, seeing as they can capture and are harder to kill than the avaerage guardsman.

...one amongst untold billions.
