Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

With the FAQ making Valkries somewhat playable now, doesnt the IG codex seem to be a little bit lopsided?

What do other races have that compare to the Valkrie "centerpeice"-wise?

It's a HUGE model that has pretty darned good rules. It just doesnt seem like other armies in 40k have anything that really compares to it "Flash" wise.

Anyone else see it like this...or is it just me?

You are not alone, but I think people are just shocked and awed by the Imperial Guard actually moving! I would not be kidding to say that in many past battles I often skipped my movement phase altogether. The Guard were just extremely static.

There are several vehicles superior to the Valkyrie, the Eldar Falcon comes to mind. The Valkyrie is just a new, wonderfully detailed, and different vehicle to what the Guard has ever had.

People will find its weaknesses, mostly in the fact that it carries Guardsmen, and it will be weakened slightly. Yeah, it is reasonably tough, but it is only AV12 front and side with AV10 rear, so even mild anti-armor weapons can knock it down reasonably well.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

I dunno, I'd rather take a greater daemon than a Valkyrie, both model-wise and game-wise. They're great centerpieces.

Daemon princes offer a lot of conversion potential too, and orks have so many great new models, includng the battlewagon, that they're certainly not lacking in this area.

I gotta say Warbosses are pretty fun. Powerful, lots of conversion possibilities, HQ choice. Cool name, even.

Warboss.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

I think that it's pretty much the opposite: the IG were the last army to really recieve their big showpiece model. Landraiders, Monliths, Hive Tyrants, Great Demons, Soulgrinders, and Battlewagons are all pretty neat, new, large models. The only armies that really lack a similar thing are DE and Tau.

Gunships are overrated and pretty much ado about nothing. They have their uses but I don't see them being a big problem to handle. They are cool though. IG players deserve them.

I agree I got a valk (converted it to a vendetta) just because its so cool (a big friggin' jet!) but I still think a well painted and converted landraider is a good centerpiece.

And heaven forbid if the Marine would also happen to have an intimidating looking, vertical scar. Then you're surly boned. Those guys are the worst. Not a chance I'd say.

I Gotta go with Chaos Demons and Chaos Space marines. The Soul Grinder is such an amazing pice, put it in a CSM army call it a Defiler, with a Defiler, a Land Raider, Chaos Lord on Jauggernaut and a Greater Demon, I think chaos is the best for center pices, shure the Valkrie looks awsome but that's all IG have. And I've always loved the way a drop pod looks on the table.
