I've had a SM army laying around for a few years that has never been fully painted (started off as my first army - SW!).
So I am endeavouring to paint it up as quickly as possible (and it will be a good chance to get some painting chops up again).

I'm setting it up as a 6 dreadnought / scout horde / bike list.

Scheme is basically white and gold with purple details (flags, vehicle decorations etc).
A bit out of the ordinary but I think it is a very clean and crisp way to go.

First off the ranks: 3 Scout squads (all old metal models)


roughly cleaned; some conversions.



bolter squad 3 weapon/arm swaps



shotgun (storm) squad. One arm swap



Sniper 'cousin it' squad. Couldnt be bothered filing the 'rolled up' cloaks already on them (for speeds sake), hence the ridiculous yeti suits.


next up

First round of bikes
and start on the typhoon to storm conversion...

Great colour scheme, they look great. I'm not normally a fan of built up bases, but those look fantastic - they really add something to the models rather than detracting from them.

I had some tac marines and gh bits laying around. So I've decided to make some Legion of the Damned. I've never really liked the 'warp-contagion' story. I decided to go with the Stelek colour scheme. I don't know how much I'll use these guys... I prefer them over Vets though (when and why did they get changed to 'sternguard?)

Human eyes or the space marine helmet ones?

I find that red eyes go well with green armor for the helmet. You
want something high contrast. You can even go with yellow.

For fleshy eyes, you can start with a dark eye and white out the edges.

I was thinking of making the eyes glow in the same way as the plasma, power cable etc.
I'm trying to make them come across as ghostly; having sources of energy etc appear the same.

I don't really want to use colours that contrast too much (such as red); but then that is a bit counter productive....

have just taken apart the landspeeder for cleaning;
I can't decide whether to field it as a storm or as a typhoon. I'm leaning toward typhoon, I think it would be a bit more useful in this current list (it also means I won't feel so stupid when I max out with TL HF dreads!!!)
