I am thinking about delving into Imperial Guard forces now that I have a nice Ultramarines Army. I would love to continue with the Ultramar theme- I was wondering if it would make since for Imperial Guard units in the Ultramar region to have blue uniforms? In the Ultrmarines novels they always talk about blue being the color of choice for civilizations in this region- would it make sense for me to outfit an IG force in Ultramarine Blue?

What type of guard would you go with? tank heavy? infantry? mech inf?

White uniform with blue carapace armour looks pretty good.
A whole platoon painted like this should look pretty impressive.

This is an ice-world theme, but it's still the same general theme with lighter colors.

I hadn't thought of continuing the blue theme (will probably be sick of blue by then), but I might do some wort of grey with blue trim.

Thanks for the early feedback- I am definitely leaning towards a blue-white or blue-grey color scheme for IG now. What do you all think I should do with the vehicles. I am afraid if I do them in Ultramarine blue(Hellhounds, Leman Russ, etc.), they will too closely resemble Ultramarines armor. Perhaps I should do them in a blue-grey camo scheme to differentiate them?

Yeah... if you blob the two colors on like IG are apt to do, then it should look different enough. I think SM generally have solid color tanks with particular designs and trim, whereas an IG tank would have the two main colors blobbed on there.

So yes, I vote for the blue-gray camo scheme.

If it's an Ultramar force, I'd say they'd take after their "parent forces" and use a blue carapace with black/white fatigues, black lasgun casings/weapon cases.

Then for vehicles, just solid Ultramarines Blue.
