Just want to see what you guys think, but if I turn something into a Spawn using Boon of Mutation and it gets killed, does my opponent get a KP?
I think he would, since the rule for it states that it 'is a normal unit under the control of the player that used the Gift', and all 'units' are worth a KP.
I think it's a little lame if this is the case, since what happens if I turn an IC into a spawn? I get a KP, since the mutated model counts as a casualty, but then if it gets killed, my opponent gets a KP too? Even lamer, if I turn one member of a squad into a spawn, I get no KPs for killing one model, but my opponent would get one for killing the spawn. Sounds slowed to me.

Yes if you use Boon of Mutation and choose to make a spawn it counts as a kill point if killed. So don't make spawns in KP games.

You think you have it bad? Think about poor Tyranid Players. They utterly haemorrhage KP, from WoN Gaunts to Biovores who's spore mines count as a KP if the scatter then explode later.

Without number. A special rule for guants that brings them back after they die... I have never played a tyranid so I'm not 100% on the particulars but I think that's the gist of it.

Interesting to note that the 'ard boyz KP missions specified that units created during the game (specifically mentioning BoN spawn amongst others) do not count for KPs.
I suspect we may well see a FAQ on that subject as it's just not right at all. Especially the spore mines. (although it is what the rules say).

Or in the 2/3 of games that don't use KPs.
It's not like you need to include them in the army list - just don't use them in KP games where you don't have a clear lead.

Just out of curiosity, do Chaos Spawn get to assault the turn they come in (assuming they are not in base-to-base contact when they come in)?

1) If it was in Base to Base it is placed 1" away out of combat. (Page 73, Codex: Chaos Dæmons) 2) "Spawn may do nothing for the rest of the turn when it is created." (Page 73, Codex: Chaos Dæmons) 3) Turn = Player Turn (Page 9, Core Rulebook). Thus it cannot assault the turn it is created.
