I'm looking at getting into Eldar and thought that the Battleforce might be a good place to start. Can anyone tell me if you can make Storm Guardians with the included sprues, or only Guardian Defenders?

You can only make Guardian Defenders. The inclusion of Guardians... the weakest troop choice in a codex full of weak troops choices, makes the battleforce not worth it, IMO.

The battleforce sucks. Warwalkers are only good in multiples, and guardians suck ass, especially since the avatar now makes them die faster.

Build up with super survivable troops like Pathfinders or hard hitting, versatile, less fragile ones like Dire Avengers.

Thanks guys. My feeling was that if the Guardians had bits such that they could be converted to Storm Guardians, then it *might* be worth it to buy two boxes (to get a full set of DAs).

Looks like I will skip the battleforce then and build up the army piecemeal.

Well... I bought some old guardian weapon sprues off e-bay to do that exact thing: convert guardians into storm guardians.

However, I'm finding that if you're running mech eldar, 5 man Dire Avenger units in serpents is almost always better.
