I am getting ready do play in a 1850 torny that allows forge world models. I have never played in one that allows forge world stuff so im not to familiar with FW rules and such. Just wondering what i should watch out for. Any advice would help out a lot.

most tournaments allow forgeworld models only.. not forgeworld rules.

what this means, is that you can field a forgeworld venerable dreadnought as a codex SM venerable dreadnought.

you cannot, however, use it as a Venerable Chaplain dreadnought, which has forgeworld specific rules.

so you can use forgeworld models ONLY to represent models that have rules in a current codex.

Basically, don't be afraid to ask questions. If your opponent throws something down on the table that you're not famiiar with ask him about it, or ask to read a copy of the rules.

yea, I wouldn't know what to do against forgeworld specific armies, because I'm not paying those crazy prices for their books when most of the tournaments I play in don't allow them, and most casual gamers around here don't want to play with an army that doesn't have a GW standard codex.

so not much advice I can give except ask questions BEFORE the game starts, so you can keep the game moving at a reasonable speed, and won't be suprised by something crazy, like -

I have deepstriking melta gunners with tank hunters that don't scatter... or something

My army is just a balanced marine list not a power torny build. Just kind of worries me i know FW rules are a little cheesy from what i have noticed. But thats was a long time ago when i was more in the loop

If your opponent puts down guard with anything called "hellfire" (IIRC) shells, congratulate him on his victory ASAP.

Go and download IA1 update and IA2 update. That'll give you the bulk of the guard units and most of the marine/inquisition/greyknights/sisters ones.

Also, get all the FAQs as the big books are full of typos so if your opp shows you something that seems a bit too good then you can check to see if it's been amended.

Most FW stuff is under-powered and over-priced. There is the odd item that slips through but they're getting better at fixing it.
