Hey, i have this custom character and to make along story short he's a beefed up Librarian but the back story for him is that he's the Master of my custom chapter. This was all sweet until my freind told me he had read somewhere that because of a Librarian's susceptbility to the Warp they are never allowed to become chapter masters. so the problem i have is i love my model with his current rules and psykerness, but the back story makes no sense. Is there any way to justify a Librarian Chaptermaster??????

As far as fluff goes blood ravens ( the army in the dawn of war pc game) have had several of thier highest ranking librarians as chaptermasters it is mentioned in the omnibus. Really with fluff the only person who can limit your fluff is yourself.

Chapters make their own rules and traditions...so with a home made chapter you can give them any you like.

Two official chapters have psyker masters frequently (Grey Knights and Blood Ravens) and I can see Blood Angels accepting one as their primarch was famed for his precognition (and they adore their chief librarian). And that's not even getting into those who've fallen to chaos.

My custom Chapter's Chapter Master is a Dreadnought. Do whatever you want.

Back in the Rogue Trader/2nd Ed. days, there were librarian dreadnoughts with psychic powers and all kinds of cool stuff like that.

sigh, i don't even remeber those good ol' days, i bought my marines just when there 5th ed came out, thats when i started, sigh. i'll have to hunt down that fluff down me tinks

I think about the only fluff you can't make up are those that will contradict existing fluff.

Such as having Female space marines or something...

I can only take so many 'Robot Taumarine Chaplains from the Future' and whatnot (That thread still cracks me up ) before I go on another killing spree. And it's never pretty when that happens

Is that a No i can't? Like i said i only want to know because supposedly my friend found contradicting fluff, but it sounds accurate and he has no reason to lie so i believe him, Or do i just have to get really creative with the back story and out fluff existing fluff?

sharpidon of the soul drinkers (loyalist renegades) is their chapter master, and he's a Librarian.

It isnt unknown for a libby to take place as a chapter master.
Go for it by all means
i know one of the home grown chapters on dakka has a libby as a chapter master.

Also, if Dante was ever to die, mephiston would take his place as the highest ranking member of the blood angels.



Thinking about it, its even possible for a chappy to be a chapter master, its all up to you 100%
Just go with whatever you like, since at the end of the day thats all that matters.

With customs chapters, as long as you don't break any rule, you are the one who writes the fluff. So go ahead and have a Librairian be your chapter master.
