So guys, im going to build a competitive ONLY necrons list. I wanted to know if there are any power builds out there and if so what are they? I know crons are pretty weak at the moment, but that just means I get more bragging rights after i win =)

The destroyer spam and the triple monolith are the standard competitive lists for necrons. I love using three monoliths, the only bad part about that list is the amount of times you hear "ignore the monoliths, GO FOR PHASEOUT!".

16,000 points daemons fantasy
6000 points lizardmen
3500 points ogre kingdoms
1500 points tau BFG

I would say a destroyer heavy force as 1 way of doing it.
Looks good, works well, and has a pretty good strength to it.

Triple monolith spam is pretty evil, there are barely any units in the game capable of killing them, and with 3 they wont know where to turn.
alas, as pointed out people will try to ignore them and phase you out.

double monolith and a C'tan also work well, same as above, but the C'tan adds a real risk factor to your army.
since they are pretty strong no one is willing to charge head on into them, so you can use him to divert which way the enemy moves each turn.
More of a psychological way of playing, but very effective.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

The triple mono spam is pretty good if you use it correctly. Iv seen one player just use them as a wall, moving the mono with the portal to the back, and just shooting the hell out of everything, and just holding the objectives with the crons that popped out of the portals. Pretty effective as he basically boxed the enemy army into a corner.

Both of 40kE's army suggestions are right on. Deveiver, 20 warriors, 15 destroyers and 3 units of Immortals are pretty good. His Monolith army is also pretty good. What's great about the Necrons is that they can throw a series curve into severe metagame shifts.

Another possibility is a Wraith army. Try this:

HQ - Lord, Destroyers, Res Orb, Scythe
EL - 8 Immortals
EL - 8 Immortals
TR - 10 Warriors
TR - 10 Warriors
FA - 3 Wraiths
FA - 3 Wraiths
FA - 3 Wraiths
HV - Monolith
HV - Monolith

The idea of this army is to have two cores. The shooty core and the assault core. 9 Wraiths and the Destroyer Lord can get to most every anywhere on the table to assault. The Res Orb nearby keeps the Wraiths alive longer. 3+ Invulnerable and a 4+ WWB almost garaunteed vs. most everything in the game.

16 Immortals and 2 Monoliths can sweep fire across the board against the enemy while the Wraithpack hunts down a board edge for enemy weakspots. I will admit it is a highly unconventional list, but it looks sound. 40Ke's lists are more battle tested and more of a surething. If you subscribe to the theory that GW swings the power of units each codex, then you might want to give the Wraith list a try. Thinking GW will make them even better in the future.

That wraith List looks awesome. I love the Wraith model and they dont seem to bad on the table.

I have seen necron list built around using the monolith and troop mostly with no elites.. then they had the lord with destroyer body and scythe running around with scarabs(for extra wounds) attacking tanks etc while the mass of guns moved into range to unleash gauss madness..

Crons can def be competitive, but vs certain armys they get rocked pretty hard. I know with my Nid's I RARELY lose to crons. The fact I have so many units, T7 huge guys, and Str 8 templates out the wazoo is tough. I normally can force a phase out by turn 3 most games. And 'liths don't stand a chance against a str 10, d6 + 1 attacks carni!

But vs most other stuff thats vehicle based (baring IG and Tau because of range) Crons do pretty well. I know I struggle at times with my Chaos against em.
