I have been looking through the gallery, and someone seems to be throwing down 10 ratings like they are going out of style, especially on things that don't rate it, like blurry photos of a gaming table. Not a battle, just a demo table. 10 for both scores.

I know it should average out, but is there anyway for a "Gallery Overseer" to remove votes or anything like that? It leads me to believe that many pics are getting inflated votes or are being voted on only by buddies, and that doesn't really help the Gallery.

Could you link here to some examples when you see them please and I'll ban that user from voting.

Seems like they have been voted down a bit right now, I can't seem to find the ones I was referencing. I'll keep trying though.

You get people voting their own images up but they quickly get voted down. The only time when lots of 10 votes are an issue is when it is done by a trusted user with the turbovoter as that can be a bit of a pain to clean up.

I was only concerned because I saw a few of them in a short time, and hadn't really noticed it before. May not be as much of a problem as it seemed. I'll link any I might find, though.

The other thing to remember is that when people vote an image high, because of the way the system works, that image will then get seen by more eyes which will then vote appropriately on it pushing the rating back towards the acceptable level.

It is a bigger problem when people unfairly give images a low rating because those images won't then automatically get more hits to immediately start to balance out the rating.

Of course, this is all only an issue when looked at in an extremely short timespan. Over time, all images continue to get more votes and their ratings will always tend to move towards more of the correct level given enough time and votes.

I did not know about the scaling of views for higher rated images. Learn something new every few decades...

Here's one:

I commented on it when I saw the 10/10 vote.
