Subject: Most cost effective Chaos unit?

I seem to be fielding way less numbers then my opponents. This is to be expected as Im using almost exclusively warriors and knights but they cant seem to be able to make there cost back. Im finding other armies less expensive (often more numerable) units beating me in combat. They seem to have more cost effective units that do more damage for what they pay for. Any ideas on what to do and or add to my chaos army in order to get some more bang for my buck. If i come across as ignorant I apologize as im just getting back into it for the first time in two years so im not completely up to date on all the new Woc Goodness.
Thank you for your help

Knights are great. So are chariots. If your opponents are beating you by using ranked blocks, you might want to bring your own ranked blocks (marauders are dirt cheap) and support them with the knights or chariots to deal the wounds.

If you are struggling vs ranked blocks take 25 marauders with HW, shield light armour and full command as your CR5 tarpits and units of 10 with flails as support (they flank charge in the next combat phase)

That Marauder block of 25 is 170 points. The 10 man auxillary with musician (in case you lose) without any other up grades is like 64...methinks. 234 points total. It's the point equivalent of around 15 Warriors or so. Best of all, the counter charge in the next combat phase usually works amazingly 9/10 times.

Tips for playing an all warrior army.
1) Dont use too many big blocks. This makes your relativly slow infantry very unwieldly and they still crumple to a flank charge by just about anything. 'Big' in this case means anything more than two ranks deep.
2)Have some back up. Its all well and good to say i play a pure warrior army but they cant do it by themselves. Knight and chariots are excellent back up especially if your into the 'full plate' army. However look into using warhounds and marauder horsemen for redirection and flanking.
3)Remember your advantage. Most armies outnumber you, many can hit as hard or harder than you, many bring out more magic, many can take hits like you, most shoot better than you. But you have something too. No matter the army chaos warriors always do something better than their opponents because they do everything well. Elves hit hard but cannot take a punch, use your armor and resilience against them; Brets hit hard and can take hits, but if you hit first or they cant break you they begin to falter.
4)There are no tricks Warriors do best when your opponent has no choice but to fight what you have. You cant pull a spell or a magic weapon out of nowhere and expect to suprise an experianced foe. This is often true in general but even more so with warriors. You have what you brought, and the enemy knows that, use that knowledge. Your opponents know and will exploit your weaknesses so remember what they are and dont let it happen.
5)Its all about movement Remember, your warriors a move 4 and your knights are move 7 effectivly, slow units for their type. You are also not as manuoverable as other armies, the book doesnt even have any skirmishers. You have to adopt a strategy and that takes your speed into account, even against dwarfs who have guns.
These are the rules i build my WoC armies by. It works quite well.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste |
