I am personally trying to become a doctor and so ons.

I am wondering if there is anyone else who has taken the MCAT because I want to take it as soon as possible to see how I score and see what I need to work on. I know that I need physics, organic chem, and general chem. I have taken general chem and I am taking organic chem. I have not yet taken physics, but I think a study guide will help me out with this.

So, besides "studying" what helped you out the most with the test and are there any tips out there to help me take the test. If you're wondering why I don't have physics under my belt its because I'm a sophomore in college and hate math related things.

Specifics as to what subjects and portions were on your tests are greatly appreciated as is any help.

Most of my med student friends swear by this site. It isn't the best prep resource, but its free and certainly very useful.

One thing. Because the MCAT is a knowledge based exam (as opposed to a reasoning based test like the GRE, or LSAT), its in your best interests to postpone taking it until you have at least a basic grasp of all the subjects it covers.

Sweet site, I picked up a barron's study guide with some practice tests and reasons behind the answers so I was hoping to try to teach physics to myself.

It depends on how good you are at calculus. The basic principles of physics are simple enough, but the actual math can get you.

I'll tell you this, in high school I averaged a d-c grade(6 pt scale mind you) but I managed a 4 on the AP exam. I also had to retake calc 2 in college so I'm a year behind on my calc. I managed a C my second time around.

So I guess its physics next semester then...

On the website it says that testing ends this september for this year, I don't know if they haven't updated their site, does testing end in september every year?

Good luck with the MCAT! I have several friends who either just took it, or are about to take it. Where are you thinking about going for med school?

Yeah, it might be easier for you once you can apply it in the context of physics. It doesn't look like (from a quick glance at MCAT topics in physics) that there's anything too difficult to visualize in there.

Yeah, it looks like the test is only administered through September of each year.

I'd make sure you talk to your schools pre-med advisor before you get too far down this path. Med schools are notoriously picky about transcripts, and having a few C's and a retaken class already put you in a bit of a hole. I don't know what it's like now, but 8-10 years ago that was almost enough to make even applying a long shot.

I don't want to dissuade you from your dream, but make sure you're not wasting your time before you start studying hard core.
