Hi all, I decided to expand over here as I originally asked on Dakka how one might make Glacier Bases. I'm also new to Fantasy, and Warriors of Chaos. While my gaming group did run a Path to Glory Campaign, where I got my first taste of Fantasy as well as Chaos. My warband was Nurgle for it, and I actually placed second. So, here I am!

We are now running an Escalation League, from 600 to 1500 points, though I plan on doing a full 2250 so I can participate in our Fantasy Tournament which happens right after the Escalation League wraps up. I'm probably going to go insane, and have more than that done, as I like to switch up my list all the time and have units to swap out.

I'm going primarily Tzeentch, as I'm intrigued with the Magic phase as well as his lore. While I am starting out pretty stock, I am planning on doing a lot of conversions. I also love the idea of the Death Star style list, and I want to make a block of Chosen for it. I don't really care for GW's models for Chosen, so mine will all be converted. I will also have converted Warshrines, and I have a couple of ideas

It's week One already, and I got a lot done. I have my 3 colors and bases done, and went a bit further than that with the basing which was fun. My inspiration for this army is that they are coming from the Chaos Wastes to invade the Southlands, but are doing so during winter by crossing a glacier. I was inspired by that because it is speculated the Native American Indians may have been Asian descendants, whom crossed a similar bridge from Asia via Alaska. Just an intriguing idea that stuck with me through the years.

I tried a new technique with this army, I primed them white and then did all my painting with only washes. I think they look tabletop, and I will go through at a later date and take a pass with some normal paint. By using this method, it's almost like sketching. I can block in some colors, and decide if I like it or not. The only units I didn't do like this are the Warriors and Warhounds. The Warriors still need details done, but the Warhounds are finished.

I am currently working on converted Chosen and a Sorcerer made from Warriors. I will post pics of those later tonite. For now, here is what i have finished so far.

These Marauder Horsmen..well, Skull White Fail. I have primered many a model before, and I have never had an outcome this bad. I needed to get it done, so I went ahead anyway with the grainy finish. The washes look pretty cool though.

The Exalted needs a bit more work, he's a little sloppy:

The Warhounds have been finished since, I just need to get some pics taken.

Thanks for looking, and reading the text wall

Here are some more pics! These are all wip, I think I'm going to focus on getting the Sorcerer finished. I'm planning on giving him a regular base as well as a Disk of Tzeentch. So, he will be magnetized.

I finished the disc and sorcerer, and got a coat of primer on them (crappy Krylon primer, which I got because I was desperate. I won't make that mistake again...again.) I made the disc out of 2 40mm bases and some CSM accessory sprue bits. The Sorcerer is magnetized, as is the disc to the base. Now I just need to flock and prime the base, and get some paint on this project!

I'm having so much fun doing this army!

Here are some pics:

Here it is, all painted up, a Sorc and his disc. He will be a Sorcerer Lord later, when points allow.

The paint is a bit sloppy in spots, but there isn't much I can do about it using only washes

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

The horsemen and marauders look awesome, despite the graininess.

As a force though, the blue looks a little odd on the warriors. They don't seem to tie together with the horsement and marauders - same with the hounds. Maybe you could put some blue on the horsemen and marauders though?

I had started with the Warriors first, and painted them differently (no washes). They are still a work in progress, but I will be working on tying them in. I'm hoping to be able to build an offspring of 2 other WoC armies: The Troll army and a Slaanesh army as well. Tying the paint in will be important, so I am thinking about adding more purple into the Warriors once I get to that stage in a few weeks.

At the moment, all the marauders are Mark of Slaanesh. I have tattoos and other things to think about for them. The warhounds I think will get a very light blue and white drybrush.

Thanks!

Other than what chopper! said about tying the warriors together with the marauders, I'd say this is one pretty slick Tzeentch WoC army, and is my first time seeing one too. Good work, especially with using only the washes.

Could we get some close up shots of your Warriors later?

You could go "celtic" on the marauders and add blue markins on their bodies!

You can do wonders with just washes and thinned paints. I would not write this off as just a quick and dirty technique. Play around with it and you may find you use it quite a bit for finish work.

The horde of blue chaos warriors really stand out, while looking dark/demonic good stuff

Thanks guys! I will try and take some close ups of the Warriors for tomorrow.

...I really like the wash technique, and I think it does require some modicum of skill (as made apparent by my mistakes).

Well chalk me up for massacre number 5! Unfortunately, I'm the one being massacred I don't really mind, it's a learning game, and to be honest I've been rolling terribly. I even bought some Tzeentch-y dice yesterday, to no avail. How could I lose, on 9-9-9? I will post my exact list later, but it looked like this:

Sorcerer
Level 2
Disc
Enchanted Shield
Some other stuff I forgot what
MoT

Exalted
Biting Blade
Shield
Book of Secrets
Infernal Puppet
MoT

12 Chaos Warriors
Shields
Full Command
MoT

5 Marauder Horsemen
Shields
Throwing Axes

5 Warhounds

I suppose my biggest problem is 2 expensive heroes in a 700 point game

With 100 points needed to bring me to 800 for next week, and me having a decidedly tough time, I decided to change things up a bit. I was trying to stick with what I wanted to make and play, for the most part. But I can only stand being massacred so many times, and I would like to win one. Here is my rough list for this coming week.

Exalted
MoT
Collar of Khorne
2 Hand Weapons
General

12 Warriors
MoT
Full Command
Shields

10 Marauders
MoS
Musician
Flails

5 Warhounds

5 Marauder Horsemen
MoS
Musician
Throwing Axes

5 Knights
Musician
Banner

Hopefully, this will make me a little more competitive. Thoughts?

Also, I could make it so I have 2 Spawn instead of something else.
