I've been seeing alot of blue table painting's work available 2nd hand lately. Most of it looks like solid tabletop grade stuff but none of it seems to be high end in any way, shape or form. People are generally trying to get 2x or 3x retail for this stuff and frankly I don't even think it looks good. So what is your opinion on their work? Good? Bad or Ugly?

That being said, I'll still give you a 0 if you bring more than 5 eldar skimmers. Don't be that guy.

So you've decided you don't like it. The purpose of your post is therefore to...?

If you take the time to look at the Bluetablepainting site, you will note they have several grades of painting for several price ranges.

I really object to you opening a post posing as an open question when you've already slanted the title and question and further state you've made up your mind.

Taking potshots at small, privately run businesses on this forum really isn't on. If you want to judge their armies, go to youtube and take a look, bear in mind the price for each and answer fairly on btp's vids, not here.

QQ moar MGS. I put my opinion out there on the pieces I have been seeing of late. do YOU have an opinion? Or are you just posting here because you don't like mine? If you are just on this thread to poke at me than take off and go post elsewhere. I'm interested in the opinion of other people on this subject, not your opinion about my post in general.

I think their work is entirely priced fairly, the work completed is of a good standard relative to their various grades.

I also think the market should decide whether or not the company survives and does not require assistance from armchair quarterbacks, who's humble opinions, geared to elicit negative response, may directly harm the welbeing of what is a small operation run by someone who's posts on this very forum have spoken of nothing but integrity and honesty. The guy is trying to put food on the table and pay the bills, people on this site ranting because it's not to the standard they would expect are free enough to just not make a purchase.

I find your intent questionable. I find the possiblity of people spouting on this thread resulting in Shawn and crew not getting business, in these dire economic times, to be worrying and distasteful.

They create a good product, it is not all produced to the same standard hence the variable pricetag.

kungfuhustler is the qq.. anyway blue table seems alrite, cept Id never use a painting company. You cant expect some to do a good job at a task that takes ages if you pay them gak x2 retail is gak.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

They're neat enough. I would never pay for a painting service, but I know plenty of people who are either motor dysfunctional, too cashed up to care, lacking in the confidence to learn to paint on their already expensive models, strapped for time, or simply uninterested in that aspect of the hobby when they can deservedly pay a skilled someone else for a great looking army. I'm talking about a proper painting commission on that last one, not BTP standard. I'm not saying BTP's basic jobs are great, but they're neat and consistent, and some people even have trouble with that. Their tutorials are reportedly pretty good too... not that I've actually looked into them myself.

I think MGS is right. Your post is inflammatory in nature and, furthermore, as evidenced by the abrasiveness of your reply, you're an ass.

I have a small amount of experience with abrasive.

I had a small unit of Praetorians painted up by BTP a few years back. Good price, decent turnaround time and done to a standard that I (at the time) couldn't match.

No complaints from me.

Blue Table Painting's fault? I think not.

I've been having BTP paint my armies for roughly 3 years now. Haven't regretted it once. They can be considered pricey I guess, but the customer service that comes along with it cannot be beat.

I've got pictures of some of the stuff they've done for me in my gallery if anyone wants to look.

with all painting services you get what you pay for. BTP and Goatboy both have a grade system in place so you can decide how much you love your army and how good you want them.
If your basing your opinion on thier video content then its not a very well based opinion. Video is notoriously flakey in showing detail in a high enough res to really show off thier skill.
Even the work we do in HD cant show a painted model in all its glory.
Just look at some of the fantastic photography of Cool Mini. now thats hsows you true detail that video cant show.

I've never seen em do a model I didn't like. I personally wouldn't use them because I can paint well enough myself, in fact that's 99.999% of the hobby for me. I rarely play. But I can see why people want to buy painted stuff if they just don't have the skills or the time but really want a great looking army. And I think it's hella cool that BTP and others can make a living (not just a living but a whole company) out of painting models. I never could do that, I paint too slow :(

Yet another 12 year old trying to take food out of someones mouth.

This is a family run business not Wal Mart. Why not email the owner Shawn before you make a post that many would argue puts them in a bad light just for your moments entertainment and limelight.

I've never used BTP, but I have used paintedfigs.com and I was very pleased with the quality, customer service, and turn around.

I was strapped for time and needed to get a small number of models painted for an event. They came through with surprising quality. I would definitely recommend them if anyone is looking at using a painting service.

I won a squad of Burna Boys a while back that were painted by Blue Table Painting. The models were very well done, and I was thrilled to add them to my Ork army. BTW...I find it very distasteful to take potshots at a small business in these economic times just for your kicks.

BTP is a touch more expensive then these guys, but their pretty much just as quick, and the quality is higher. I considered having a job done by them a few years ago, but after seeing BTP's work it wasn't much of a choice.

I concur that the title and first post in this thread are not conducive to a constructive discussion and instead will lead to an inevitable flame war, which has already started to appear.

Kungfuhustler, if you are genuinely interested in reading opinions on this matter, I suggest you don't put potentially inflammatory statements into your subject title and/or original post.
