I was hoping to start some new house rules but I’m not really sure how to go about it.

I would like to replace the mission type Dawn of War or at least change the rule where you have to start with one hq and two troops on the table.

Another idea I was hoping to get feedback on was making new Hq character choices. You would take a preexisting model that closely resembles your new hq choice, its then upgraded to a special character and given a universal special rule that is conferred to any unit they join.

So for my blood ravens

Gabriel Angelos
Space marine captain with Thunder hammer and artificer armor is 145 points and to represent his wisdom in battle he and the unit he joins gets the “preferred enemy” universal special rule. Gabriel would have the same stats and special rules as the SM captain he’s based off of plus the universal special rule.

Avitus
Based off of a devastator with a multi-melta heavy weapon is 31 points and I would give him relentless and stick him with a devastator squad for some nasty effects. This makes for a nice cheap Hq choice that has the simple stats as a regular space marine.

Thaddeus
Chaplain, jump pack, power fist, and fleet or furious charge.

I could see how this could get out if hand and make some really cheesy stuff.
Ironclad dreadnought with a full squad of assault terminators and infiltrate.

Ideas and C&C welcomed.

Hi Personally I have just gotten into making missions up I mean like I spent today writing rules for fights inside infested bastions so far I have orks chaos and Nids defending and space marines attacking because me and my mat dont have any models for anything else but I have done it like toned down movie marines with chaos cultists but the dawn of war own just say to heck with the restrictions at the end of the day its a game and if you want to lose the restrictions just do it and see what happens as for the characters you have to add points for the usr but other than that they sound good and make sure to playtest gabriel angelos at 145 giving preferred(sp?) enemy to his squad is very good so try him out in a freindly with a mate at 150 if he is over powered try 155 under powered try 145 but if your opponent agrees only make sure you ask them about all this before the game I found this to my peril and lost 3 hours of my life to failing to find a game that night so as I said ask and playtest.

A firm believer in yin and yang.
My eternal thanks to lennysmash for helping me with pics in my blog.

Well when it comes to general "house rules" just play the game by the book and if you come across something that just makes you think "Wow that is REALLY dumb" then change it and if your opponent agrees to the change then follow that rule. GW even encourages doing this as they realize that they're rules could always use some amendments.
