Alright, so it's been drilled into everyone's skull that the Werewolf Viking Puppies in Space are going to be a really elite army. I mean it guys, really elite and expensive and awesome.
So when the previews and reviews start coming out about how everything is really cheap, flexible, and better than chaos space marines I start to question the attention given to balance in this new codex. Giving Long Fangs relentless with a special character is great, but did GW ever stop to think about relentless drop-poding multimelta marines with plasma cannon support? The new Grey Hunters are supposedly as cheap as chaos space marines (16 points?), having everything CSM's have, and also get ATSKNF. Uh... what? Where's the drawback to playing space marine puppies? Did they up price of all the equipment (sources say no)? Are the awesome special characters ridiculously priced? Did everything BUT the troops choices somehow get nerfed or re-priced?
Even if the equipment is overdone, the characters cost too much, and the non-troops choices stink from what we've seen of the previews you can simply take a discount commander, stock up on double meltagun grey hunters in drop pods, LR's, and rhinos and still party on till the wolf time.
Any thoughts on what might not make this the equivalent of High Elves in WHFB?
