Not this, especially if you have any friends. They'll whisper behind your back and give you that look of quiet desperation to your face, that "Don't make any sudden movements" look. Unless of course they already do that.

Warpcrafter's post reminded my of Apocalyptica back when they were good, and kept the voice and electricity out of their act:

What sort of music do you prefer? Be as specific as possible as to what you enjoy, not what you can tolerate.

Dakka. You need more of it. No exceptions.

What he said.

Nevertheless I would still suggest Equilibrium (the band) and Falconer.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

As said above, we need to know your normal haunts/bands to give recommendations.

Regardless, I can recommend Matthew Good, or him earlier as Matthew Good Band - phenomenal artist.

Seems to be allot of metal being recommenced. If that seems to be the theme I can recommend:

Warning the vid below is immature, smutty and quite possibly sexist to boot and definitely NSFW. But if your happy to have a sense of humor in your metal then I can't recommend this enough. Top stuff.

Or course If the OP's isn't into metal at all and I'm just going by what everyone else has said then I recommend.

Of course non of that is particularity 'new' but I still recommend regardless.

Just to put something other than metal out there, I'm watching this right now. It's a group from New Orleans I've had the great fortune to play with sometimes, and it's always very fun. Of course, it isn't everyone's preferred music (although they've played so many, many different songs and styles) but as long as enjoyment is a concern I've always liked them.

Galactic is always fun too. It's definitely more of a hip-hop or funk band, but it's unique enough that it doesn't put me off; I usually hate hip-hop.

Long loading time, but worth it. Just pause it until it's finished.

As much as I want to just push more metal on you...

Try Joel Plaskett. He does some great rock stuff that's not too heavy.

Jack Johnson, The Decemberists - two great folk bands.

That's all off the top of my head.

EDIT: The massive amount of Youtube is clogging the thread and making posting slooooow.

Decemberists newest album was a bit of prog rock/folk genius. The Afro Samurai Resurrection soundtrack was amazing. It was produced by RZA and has loads of great guest artists on it. K'Naan had a great album come out not too long ago... Hmmm... The Beatles albums got remastered... Oh and Muse has a new album out in a few weeks.
