The assault terminator box costs double the price of other units.
Are the extra arms at least interchangeable with AOBR termies?

Yes and Yes! Thundershield terms are the ! The arms are interchangeble with AoBR especially if you magnatize them.

I prefer Terminators who can shoot, though the new stormshield rule does make assault terminators very tempting.

Assault termies cost the same as normal termies.
In temds of thier roll, they do work well.
hammer termies can take a nice beating in CC and still laugh it off, while claw termies tear through units at a time with ease.

The arms fit the AoBR termies 100%.
You will find most GW plastics of the same army do fit eachother.

Yesterday I saw five thundershield terms with a term chaplin take on Abbaddon with a five man Khorne Berzerker bodyguard for two turns till Abby could finish them off. The 3+ inv save is just so kick

Remember to order some forgeworld shoulderpads for the spare arms.
It bumps up the price a bit but is weel worth it imo.

BTW...

The assault termie box comes with 5x LC's and 5x TH/SS, so enough to make 10 assault termies if you have extra bodies.

A nice bonus.

Buy the AOBR Termies (x2) = $20-25.

Buy the TH/LC sprue = $10-15 each.

This gives you 10 CC Termies for the cost of 5.

And you magnetize the arms so you can mix/match between the SB/PF and CC arms.

Not quite.
AOBR Termies x2: $40
TH/SS: $70 for ten
claws: $60 for ten

Thus giving you 10 CC termies for the price of about 13. Not such a good deal now eh?

Huh? Where you buying your bits?

I can get 5 LC and 5 TH/SS bit sprues for $10 each.

Even at your costs for AoBR Termies, that's $60 for 10.

@uriels_flame: pm sent.

the box is definitely worth it but i'd personally wait for the wolf termie box as it's an even better deal. you get enough storm bolters/powerfists for the whole squad, a flamer, an assault cannon, and 4 sets of LC and 4 of TH/SS.

yea, but they probably have dumb space viking insignias...

I am a well known 40k racist (I hate various races in 40k for various reasons) around here, I even got banned from another forum for being racist against eldar.

i'm just as hateful when it comes to space wolves, or any other uncouth borderline traitor chapter out there.

I would NEVER sully my terminators by giving them such shields... i'd rather them go into battle without arms.

lol, that cool; gw likes the fact that you're willing to put your wallet where your keyboard is! me, i'm going to buy the box that gives me three different loadouts for 5 termies and just scrape off the mongrel graffiti!

honestly, I already have 6 assault terminator bodies. I don't really need more.. and if I need shooty marines, i'll just buy AOBR ones and convert the cyclone launcher from something.

though for some reason, I do own 15 grey knight terminator models... I think i'm slightly insane.

Borderline traitors better not include BA :K

but yea, assault termies can be worth thier weight in gold, however, ive swapped mine for some ranged ones for now
Simply because they are the BA termies from space hulk lol
