Subject: Need Input...Wanting to create a SM Scout Command Squad

I wasn't really sure which topic this would best fit under and though I did a search I couldn't find anything addressing this topic so I apologize if I missed something.
As the title implies i'm looking to create a command squad for my 10th company (scout company). I was thinking of getting some scout bits and building four bolter scouts to accompany the Master of the Recruits. I was thinking of painting one in primarily white and modelling to look like a medic since one has to be an Apothecary. I'm not certain whether or not it's staying with the fluff (I haven't read enough books to really know). Also, what would the feasability be of using them since per 5ed Codex a command squad is in power armor? Any input would be appreciated. If it just can't be done and be tournament legal then i'm not gonna sweat it. I'm simply looking to beef up and fill out my custom chapter for Apoc games.
Thanks
Petro

Petro,
The command squad of the 10th company is usually made up of veterans whose talents lie in teaching the scouts about the Chapter, Tactics, etc. A six man squad of power armored Marines isn't going to make much of a difference in the grand scheme if all your troops choices are scouts!
But, as an aside, I can see a command squad made up of those same veterans (Veteran Sergeant Stat Line) wearing Scout Armor. It would be a neat modeling project to try.
I don't think you could use them in any kind of tourny, but in a friendly Apoc game, I'm sure your friends would allow it. 4+ armor isn't as good as 3+, so go for it!
Just my two cents

Sounds like a great idea for an Apocalypse data sheet. Call them "The Masters of the Scout Company". They could look like Alec Baldwin...

Thanks for the input. I think i'll just end up using some power armored marines then. Another idea would be just to have a 5 man scout squad and attach the captain as an IC to it I just wouldn't get the Apothecary stat. Although I do agree a completely scout company from start to finish would be cool even if only a 4+ save. Beefed up IG with access to SM armory/vehicles.

You could use Scout models but standard Command Squad statline. Decorate up their armor some and describe them as having "Artificer" Scout Armor that provides a 3+ save rather than 4+.

This is a great idea (one I might consider stealing...) but the only problem with a scout command squad is scouts are meant to be stealthy and you cant have a "stealthy" standard bearer.

IIRC (don't have the codex handy at the moment) the SM codex only stipulates you must have an Apothecary. For a cost you can upgrade one veteran to a champion and one to a standard bearer but not mandatory.

The Standard Bearer wouldn't have to carry a tapestry the size of a bike. He could carry a telescoping pole with a beacon light on it. Maybe mount the teleport homing device on his back? The Standard is just something to attract the men's attention. It could be a big poleaxe. I'm sure you can think of something suitable that isn't a big tapestry.
