So 5 assault termies + Mr Ideology are coming out of a land raider, only 6 in terminator army in a mech list.

What is the right mix of LC and TH/SS for those 5?

Thinking nice to have 2x TH/SS for the extra St Attacks and the TH effects on armour, but 3x LC for all those extra power weapon attacks and rerolls to wound.

Thoughts?

5x AT with TH/SS in a LR will destroy enough.

No more than 1 LC dude per 3 AssTerms. This makes a Crusader loadout 2 and 6, respectively.

And honestly, you don't lose out very much by just having 100% AssTerms.

I agree, the 3 Thunder hammer 2 Lightning claw sounds good, but even one LC would be just fine, as long as SOMEONE swings with or ahead of whoever you jump into assault with you should be good

I used to run with 6 th/ss termies, 1 pr of lc's and cassius.

That's about all the non-th/ss termies I would go for in an assault squad.

I run a libby (null zone+the avenger) with assault terminators in a LRC. The squad of 7 runs 3 with pair of Lc and 4 with Th+Ss. Works well for me

My Assault Termies are all equipped with TH/SS and I never regretted it.
These Termies can afford to hit last.

I agree with everyone who says you need 1 lc per 3 thunder hammers/ Those lc atks means there will be fewer atks coming back your way from ork boyz etc

I take all TH/SS, but that's because my regular opponents are Tyranids (so it doesn't matter, they all go in I5+ anyway) and Blood Angels with Corbulo, so with Furious Charge, they're I5, too. Getting a 3++ save against a pile of rending claws is what I need, so that's how I load them all out.

The only time I've run Assault Termies was a 9 man squad. 7 TH+SS and 2 Claws.

Works out well enough.

Low AP on TH/SS, normal wounds first on claws.
Having something going at initiative is a nice thing.

I remember being able to charge some crisis suits...dead to claws even before the hammers got to hit.
(I was conga lining them, the crisis suits tempted me to charge them to pull me off contesting an objective and thought they could survive a round to pull me even more, but it wasn't the case).

My 7 Cents.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

For tourney lists:

5TH/SS or 4TH/SS 1LC. They can take on and instant death Nobs, obliterators, marine heroes, etc. They also stand up much better vs those power units. They can also murder vehicles, dreads, etc.

For fun lists, pick up games, etc:
3 TH/SS 2LCs, these take on MEQS, TEQs, Meganobs, and infantry much better.

"Each must find their own way. If those in our heartland had witnessed the savageries of the void as have we they would know this. The hand of each of the great starfarers is turned against the other; none will join their strength together just to to see their ancient enemies prosper. Neither should we."
