Subject: Question about Deathwing-esque

I haven't played 40k in years, but I follow the game through this site and I still buy
and paint 40k products, including the army books.
Question: I see that there are different ways to run Terminator forces now. Do these
methods out death the deathwing, are they just different flavors of the same theme, or
are they inherently weaker than the Deathwing.
I appreciate any insight on the matter.

The only two Deathwing variants that I'm aware of are Deathwing and WolfguardTerminatorwing.
One has underpowered/overcosted/outdated transports and wargear, cheaper terminator, and can teleport... while the other has more expensive terminators, has updated wargear/transports, but can't teleport.
The SW character that enables terminators-as-troops is also twice (?) as expensive as Belial, IIRC.

You know, for some reason I thought there were more variants.
And then I realized that people were using "counts-as" Deathwing.
Oops.

You could run 30 termies with min troops in C:Ultramarines, but its not very effective.

Wow really? Talk about stealing DAs Thunder. I bet he actually has some neat abilities too, as opposed to Belial who brings almost nothing to the table.

You also forget, that these days pure deathwing just isn't what it once was. However, no army will ever be able to use Doublewing. SW terminators can't teleport at all, let alone teleport without scattering on the first turn of the game.

I was not aware of this. However, Drop Pods can't deepstrike turn one, and they cost 50 extra points and 30 extra bucks. BTW, how do you all know all this crap about codex: SW?

A lot of GW stores have preview copies of the SW book, and unless it does something different, drop pods Can deep strike on turn one. In fact half of your pods (rounding up) Must come in turn one.
