The tourney looks to be alot of Ork & SM armies. I have Orks and Grey Knights in my collection. I am not sure if I'll be playing GK's as a friend of mine might run a 5 land raider GK army just for kicks and would need my raiders to do so...But if he decides not to run it then I will be running the knights. I run my DH army pure and only have PAGK, terminators, and land raiders.

I'd run orks as you get more bang for your points and it is a tournament so you want the most competitve army.

I like that ork list. I would only suggest that you perhaps drop the 'Eavy Armour off the two HQs and use those 10 points to add a couple of boarding planks to your Battlewagons. It is very nice to be able to PK a vehicle without having to get out of the transport. I also might try to find another 5 points to add a second big shoota to the Nob wagon because it is going to get shoot to hell and that second "weapon destroyed" result is going to immobilize the poor thing. What a solid list though--shoot at the BW and get hit by the trukks in the jaw or take out the soft trukks and get clobbered by BWs? Nasty.

i strongly agree with this fine person orks will stand a chance of wining grey knights if you win well i take my hat of to you need to be VERY skilled to use grey knights not that im saying you aren't as i have not played you and theres a 99.9% chance i never will

I've never seen Orks fail. Ever. One friend who is a brand new 40k player, and on a budget, has an undefeated record of 4-0 against my IG and 2-0 against my Eldar friend. I was just at a tournament where I watched a different Ork player trounce SM and Eldar. That guy didn't lose a game that day. I hate to play the "whining about a race being OP" card, but if I had to pick one race to be the autowin, it would be them.

I gotta disagree here, I don't think orks are overpowered at all. If you can't make it into close combat with shooty armies, you dont bring enough rokkits and PKs againts a mech army, facing an opponent who is just better than you, and bad luck etc. can beat an ork player. They're a good army with lots of options, but i wouldn't call orks OP.

wait... well that nob biker list with all the different gear, thats kinda cheesy. but even that can be beat.

For the Grey Knights:

Drop Hammer Hands and the incinerators for psycannons. They are pure win.

Hammer Hands is silly for a Grand Master. It eliminates him using his greatest assets in CC: Higher Initiative and a Nemesis Force Weapon.

Hammerhand doesn't change Initiative.

Before I went with hammerhand, I'd take holocaust. Holocaust is a power that got very good in 5th ed, without drawing too much attention. Imagine what holocaust could do vs. a squad of Orks or Guardsmen. It's the anti-horde assurance that the low model GK (in LR here) need in CC.

Also, the ork list would do better.

hammerhand is anti walker ability. Nothing like being stuck in cc with 1 and being tied up for 2/3 turns

on your GK list give your Bcaptain Holocaust or scourging instead (same cost, better vs hordes)

in two of your GKsquads take one Psycannon it will give you some long range punch and will be okay vs light vehicles.

take 2 crusaders and one regular LR.(crusaders come with Xtra armor) this will give you clout against any foe.

why are you not taking Psybolts (AP 4, ignores Inv's on the Hurricanes is awesome)
