Whats a good size for an IG infantry blob? I been trying 30 with 3 auto cannons / las cannons and a commissar and they die pretty quick. Are they even worth it? I been killing 50 man blobs in IG mirrors easily.

Are you deploying in cover? My blob squads are some of my most resilient units. They have soaked up enormous amounts of fire and have withstood 3-4 turns of assault from some pretty good dedicated assault troops.

I agree, my 30 man squad can take a huge beating. If they shoot at you, go to ground for a 3+ cover save. Next turn have an Officer get you back in the fight.

I deploy them in cover but to fit them in cover they end up close together so they are vulnerable to flamers or flamestorm cannons from redeemers and then they get assaulted and dead pretty fast after that. Big squad has more bodies but you have to squeeze together to fit in cover so are more vulnerable to templates.

Redeemers with assault terminators inside are pretty popular in my area. Might have to cut out the blob because of that but will stick with 30 for now.

I use 50 with Yarrick or a commisar lord. That keeps them in the fight.

I give them only assualt weapons (flamers/meltas) and power weapons and melta bombs on the sarges.

The squad is expensive but they hit like a ton of bricks. They kick ass in assualt and with FRFSRF they mow gak down in shooting. The assualt weapons and melta bombs gives them a mean punch against vehicles too.

I took the unit first as a joke, but it turned out to work incredibly well. The things just runs up the field multi charging and shooting then sitting on an objective, not moving till you kill them all.

The important thing is to keep that LR away from your lines. Send a ST melta sucide squad or melta vets to pop that LR, and then just whittle down the terminators with massed fire.
