The good thing about "bias" in South Park is it's usually as upfront as you can get.
Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.
We actually used to debate the political stance of Parker and Stone in my rhetoric class. I always found it funny that the speaker always assumed they were in agreement with them.
Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.
Laura Bush used to skimp on dimebags back in college too, her grams were also way overpriced back in the day; lets chalk that up as well and see how she stands up now!
As much as it annoys me the show is so anti-right wing it is still funny as Hell.

In the wake of Kennedy’s death I noticed many right wing commentators where chomping at the bit to bring the Chappaquiddick incident up as soon and as often as possible. In fact it was brought up to a far greater extent than any criticism of his political achievements.
When Laura Bush passes what will these same peoples reaction will be if this incident is mentioned as often by commentators? I get the feeling it would be outrage coupled with plenty of ravings about a leftist conspiracy to sully her name. But we will just have to wait and see I guess.
All satirical shows reflect the politics of their writers. Family Guy is no exception and doesn’t deserve to be singled out for any special criticism in this regard. I’m sure there a plenty of right wings shows people can watch if they don’t like Seth McFarlane’s politics.
Besides It’s damn funny.

I hear you on that Lucius. That is the sad state of affairs in this country. I remember when Reagan died I was in high school and some of the teachers were actually celebrating! That disgusted me, and frankly I don't really like to speak ill of the dead, although a well placed joke at their expense is ok now and then. I think the thing that bugs many people about things like this Family Guy clip is that Laura Bush, and a few others, is easily one of the sweetest, good-natured, uncontroversial people on this planet. She doesn't get involved in politics, is very classy, and is dedicated to improving education. I can understand making fun of her husband, Dick Cheney, etc. that is what satire should do. It just seems really trashy and sad to do it to someone who really doesn't invite criticism with her actions at all. On that note I don't really think Family Guy is all that funny anymore, it seems to me that it has just gotten more and more extreme in order to try and push the envelope.

I'm not taking sides but being a careless teen and running a stop sign is not the same as killing someone and then covering it up.
Accident =/= murder + cover up as far as severity goes. Also what jeb said. It is satire but no reason for Seth to pick on someone who ever made it into the spotlight in the first place because of her hubby. Had Bush not become president or even governor Laura would be just another name in the phonebook, just another face in the crowd. Millions of teen drivers a year in the US are involved in auto accidents, she just stands out because of who her hubby is.
It's actually really tasteless that clip.

I eat fajitas and then wipe my butt with family guy.

I generally find Family Guy to be funny, but it's pretty obvious that Seth McFarlane looks right to see John Kerry.

Thing about that family guy skit is, it works because Laura Bush isn't in the public eye, so its bringing up an irrelevant factoid, that's in bad taste and in a really strange context. Which is basically the whole Family Guy schtick. The sentence 'Laura Bush killed a guy' is funny because she's a nice lady, but you know, she screwed up one time and killed a guy. It isn't nice comedy, but it is funny.
The South Park guys are far more direct in putting their libertarian bias in their show. But it works because the comedy comes first, the politics a distant second. There are times, like the Al Gore man-bear-pig thing that I'm left scratching my head, but there are others where despite me disagreeing with their point it's still really funny, like the day before the day before the day after tomorrow (did I get that right?).

Hang on, John Kerry is the guy people are calling out as a liberal?
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

There has always been a certain grey area regarding satire of first ladies. They're clearly public figures, but not public officials. Everybody knows who they are, but they tend to stay out of matters for the most part. The closest I think the media in general has to a rule is that "We'll engaged the first family to roughly the same extent he uses them for political advantage." Laura bush was pretty popular as she stuck pretty firmly to the traditional first lady type activities. So, it's a breach of protocol and a little declasse, which would be remotely surprising except that it's a show that once had a full song and dance number about, and starring, "prom night dumpster babies."
As for picking on the right wing, well, I don't even know where to begin. This might not be the time or place for it, but I'll never understand how in a country where most people are white, middle class, christian, and moderate to conservative White Middle Class christians that are moderate to conservative see themselves as some sort of embattled minority.

I for one am sick of the white man always keeping the white man down.

I mean really? It's a cartoon. It was a cheap shot at a nice lady, and while it wasn't gut-busting hilarious, it was over the top, irrelivant, in horrible taste, and lasted too long. Which, in case you've never watched Family Guy before, pretty much sums up 90% of it's writing. If you don't want bias in your entertainment go and churn some butter.
