For those of you that go to a Uni in England, have any of you had any trouble with getting your Student Loans?

I've been waiting for over 12 weeks and have heard absolutely nothing.

Yup. Still waiting on mine.

According to the papers there's a been a massive cockup at student finance, leading to 200,000 of the 1,000,000 applications still not having been processed.

The government says everything is under control though. *sniggers*

I got news from Student Finance England...

Most of those 170,000 applications have been approved and that it is the LEAs that have cocked up and are delayed in confirming the applications are correct and that will go ahead and release money for payments.

Government have it under control???

I start uni on Monday and I got told today by my local authority that it will be 8 WEEKS til my loan is cleared.

8 FRACKIN WEEKS!!!

I'm hitting my second year, byt they paid up on time, and processed quickly for me last year.

I just sold my Tau army so I could be able to live until my loan comes through.

Bit sad about that.

I work for a university in student financial aid and we have had such problems, the SLC basically turned the phones off. We have had so many students turning up for registration today that have no idea when they will get their loans through. On top of that most new entrants are not being means tested until a later date to save time, that means they wil not quallify for the university bursary until that goes through (and it will take months). Also in order to access the hard ship fund you must have been means tested first. So yeah thanks SLC you've fethed up a lot of peoples income and made about 100 times the work for anyone involved. Making everything centralised was supposed to be quicker and more efficent looks like that worked then.........(facepalm)

Well I got good news and bad news...

Bad news first:

The SLC or SFE have indeed turned their phones off. They are trying to clear the backlog.
But at the same time they are being selective about applications.
I know of someone who applied for their loan at the end of August and he fits into the same LEA as me. He's getting his loan on time.

Good News:

My loan is two weks away. Just have to sign a letter and send it back. Downside is - STUPID POSTAL STRIKE NEXT WEEK!!!
