Subject: Preparing orks : Help!

Poxed Plague Monk

Hey there, So, after all this time i've finally gotten my hands on some orks that aren't put together socket style (I've been working on the orks from two sets of 'Assault on Black Reach' i had been able to scrounge.)
Now that i'm finally able to work with actual orks. I'm curious, There are some parts which seem to be pretty hard to paint if the whole model was assembled before painting. My question is, Will my glued peices hold together if the surfaces are primed on both sides? like the inside of the arms, heads, etc.
Thanks!

It will be ok. However...
Dont do this. And especially dont do this with orks. It will take you forever to do. The general rule is, if you cant get a paintbrush in there, you cant see it or it should be a shadow and left black anyways.
There are some (very few) models that this can help with. Orks are not one of them. Just build them all and then paint them (you can even play with them in the meantime).

yeah agreed, i've painted 2 sets of black reach boyz and it's easy to paint em. If you aren't super confident on your abilities to paint them well, then position the arms so you can get underneath them easier.

Alright, I'm pretty sound with my painting skill, Its just I tend to be too perfectionist and try to do the best I can.
Example of some of my work so far.
I'm gonna prolly upload more sunday maybe... Keep an eye on my progression blog if you wanna!

A primered surface will inhibit the bond of polystyrene glue. Although they will still bond, pieces will break much more easily with casual handling. However, it is relatively easy to use a hobby knife or file and simply scrape away the offending layer of primer. Whether or not you wish to go this extra step with a horde army, though, is entirely up to you.

I use the technique the_Armyman just mentioned above. I spray base my entire Ork sprue, then scrape the primer off any surfaces I intend to glue together. This isn't necessary for slugga boyz, but for shootas it's really important if you want to get in the recesses.
