I don't like the fists on 1 attack models. I also don't like mixing flamers and plasma guns but otherwise it's a nice solid list. Let us know how it plays.

I knew that would happen Glad to see SOMEONE can read Hulksmash wrote:I don't like the fists on 1 attack models. I also don't like mixing flamers and plasma guns but otherwise it's a nice solid list. Let us know how it plays.
I only got the fists because they are supposed to be the anti Tank Squad, I suppose I could change it. And the only reason I got the Plasma Gun is because the Second Special Is Free, and Flamers are Free for the first special while Plasmas are the most expensive option I suppose I could change it to dual flamers or whatnot But yeah, in my area things are kind of all round at 1500, hence the mix of Anti Infantry and Anti tank.

I would go dual flamers just because of my long experience with eldar, being that when you go with something, go with it twice as much, and then find a different kind of hammer for something else. Lack of specialization is bad!
You could always do 1 flamer one plasma, but as you said that is much more expensive... so I wouldn't.
I think the only thing I disapprove of is the 5 rocket launchers plus cyclone terminator. You take a couple casualties and you are losing special weapons... I would drop a missile launcher and add a rando guy on if possible just to have a buffer of 3 guys before you lose any special weapons. It wont help much vs a blade storm, but it will help a lot vs another dev. squad for instance.
Also dev squad type units just blow in DOW, and you have a drop pod army, so I would reconsider, unless these wolf guys can walk and shoot. TBH I don't know much about the SW codex so I can't make many rules specific commentaries.

It's actually the same price. You See, the FIRST Special is Paid for, but the flamer is free anyway. The Second one is Free no matter what it is, so I save myself 10 points by taking the Plasma as the second Special I think the only thing I disapprove of is the 5 rocket launchers plus cyclone terminator. Well, Long Fangs cannot take any extra guys. Other than the Pack Leader all the fangs MUST take a Heavy Weapon. But your point about DoW is a good one, I just guess I was looking forward to using a unit that has been unusable for 10 years :( But TBH i'd rather have 7 ML shots a turn and risk having to lose the 1st turns shooting than taking 2 Dakkapreds which only shoot out 4 Autocannon shots a turn.

I think you ought to find the points to replace PF Grey Hunters in a couple squads with PF Wolf Guard. The main reason is that in this list, combat walkers (Dreadnoughts and Wraithlords as examples) seem like a nightmare. As is, all you can really do against a Dreadnought in assault is 1 PF attack and some odd "hit on 6" krak granades. Such things are tough enough to survive a salvo of missiles on average (especially if said dread is smoked or is of the Ironclad/Venerable variety), are immune or highly resistant to Jaws of the World Wolf, and Space Wolves don't have the luxury of Combat Tactics to get them out of that hatchet fight. Daemon Princes and Hive Tyrants are less troublesome since Grey Hunters can actually hurt them and you get a ton of attacks, but I can see a single 105 pt. Dreadnought grinding down a Grey Hunter unit without you really being able to do anything about it. At least with 2 PF attacks (perhaps coupled with a guy with Mark of the Wulfen), you've got a chance.
I don't see you has having trouble with any "mainstream" assault units (aspect warriors, termies, etc.) and you've got enough bodies to weather most shooty forces, but I just see that general vulnerability as a bit of an achilles heel. Just my opinion.

No, thank you for your Opinion I initially tried putting MotW in there, but I am really tight for Points. Also, if I take a Wolf Guard PF, I lose my second special, as the squad must have 10 Grey Hunters to get one, and Because Space Wolves are so awesome they only fir 10 to a Pod :( I Guess I'll Have to focus the Krak Missiles and Melta on them first And Don't forget Counter Attack so most times its 2 PF Attacks

The problem I am having here is why use him? His psychic barrage is great but I just don't think he's as effective if you just want to drop him close and assault. I might go with Logan Grimnar here. You could go with a DPing wolfguard troop army. I mean that is just disgusting. Then he can go with the Longfangs and have relentless ML's. Damn. Elites: 5 Wolf Guard Terminators - 260 Points ......2 With Storm Bolter and Power Weapon ......2 With Storm Shield and Power Weapon ......1 With Cyclone Missile Launcher Storm Bolter and Power Weapon (Note: Attached to Long Fang Pack) .................Drop Pod Hmmh. The major thing I don't like here is that I think this squad needs a chainfist BADLY. (And yes I did read about the CML WG being attached to the LF pack). Even a thunderhammer or PF. Just something! I might find a way to get some Wolfclaws in there too but whatever you like. Troops: 830 Points 10 Grey Hunters (2 Meltaguns, 1 Power Fist and Drop Pod) 10 Grey Hunters (2 Meltaguns, 1 Power Fist and Drop Pod) These guys are good. 10 Grey Hunters (Flamer, Free Plasmagun, 1 Power Weapon and Drop Pod) 10 Grey Hunters (Flamer, Free Plasmagun, 1 Power Weapon and Drop Pod) Eeew. The MAJOR thing I'm hating on here is the PG's and the PW. If you are going to give them PW's they NEED Meltabombs. I would go with Flamer / MG honestly. Heavy Support: 140 points 6 Long Fangs ......1 Pack Leader ......5 Long Fangs with Missile Launchers Yum! Again with the Logan Relentless ML's the would be sick, but ATM with Njal they still will do well Total Cost: 1500 Exactly

Yeah Mark of the Wolven is disgusting and should be used. IDT it can replace ST8 hits though but it's something to think about. His MG spam might be enough for the tanks to make it viable to just Wolven. And I think MotW is 15 points, so at least replace the PW guys with it!

Hmm, good point about the MotW and Logan, I had forgotten about Logans Relentless The only problem though is Logan is VERY much a CC Character and Putting him with Long Fangs seems like Putting Farsight with Broadsides.
Another Advantage Njarl has is the 3+ "Feth you Elrad and lash" ability, which is Unbelievable! Not to mention being able to Snipe out Power Klaws in Ork Armies.
My main problem at 1500 for the Wolf Guard is Points cost. This new codex seems to hit its optimum at 2000 for the new wolves.
So anyway, here is a revised list
HQ:
Njarl "New Lash" Stormcaller with Special Terminator Armour of Brokenness - 270pts (Note: Attached to Wolf Guard in Drop Pod)
Elites:
5 Wolf Guard Terminators - 285 Points
......1 With TH and Storm Bolter
......1 with Power Fist and Storm Bolter
......2 With Storm Shield and Power Weapon
......1 With Cyclone Missile Launcher, Storm Bolter and Power Weapon (Note: Attached to Long Fang Pack)
.................Drop Pod
Troops: 830 Points
10 Grey Hunters (2 Meltaguns, 1 Power Fist and Drop Pod)
10 Grey Hunters (2 Meltaguns, 1 Power Fist and Drop Pod)
10 Grey Hunters (Flamer, Free Meltagun, MotW and Drop Pod)
10 Grey Hunters (Flamer, Free Meltagun, MotW and Drop Pod)
Heavy Support: 115 points
5 Long Fangs
......1 Pack Leader
......4 Long Fangs with Missile Launchers
Total Cost:
1500 Exactly

Yeah I understand about Logan. Really you grab him to get NEAR CC at least IMO and give you those Wolf Guard as troops and those special rules! The list you got now I think is fairly solid. The ONLY other thing I want to suggest is giving one of the SS / PW Wolf Guard another piece of wargear. The reason being, if you want to allocate wounds to the squad it will take 4 wounds to get one stuck on Njal and not just 3. But yes, space wolves in general are the bane of eldar psychic armies and lash and this list won't be to nice to anyone really either.

The only problem though is Logan is VERY much a CC Character
Stop being a fething poof Gwar
Space pups are ment for CC, why else would they have move AND shoot heavies?
Lets face it, plasma isnt worth it with the options you have available
Melta + MotF is great anti-tank, spam it where needed.
The flamers, im not sure why you have those there
You have a CC orientated unit that could use that extra push against vehicles, and you take a bunson burner?
I say duel melta
Havent managed to get my hands on the book yet, but whats Bjorn like?
Also, nice to see you didnt tajke the little suicide bomber dick in the list
I think with pups it will be an all or nothing style list.
You either go for all out combat, or all out shooting.
Those fangs set you back on points, struggle with any decent armour, and generally just sit back doing nothing all game.
I would drop those points into something worth while, maybe a dread for some added impact?
Also, the biggest thing about you list is missing.
You need to fething start painting!

Both Awesome and Suck. He has Moar WS, BS and even Moar Basic Strength, a 5+ Invulnerable Save, the ability to take Asscan, or a Free Plasma Cannon or Buy a TL Lascannon.... but is I3 and Cannot take a Drop Pod :(
Also, nice to see you didnt tajke the little suicide bomber dick in the list

Eh Good Point.
As allways
I already have 2 Dual Melta Squads. Do I really need 8 Drop Podding Meltas?
Yes, think about it against a LR whore army, you fail to do enough damage and you get tank shocked like a bitch while your stood still, failing that, they could even ram the pod lol (not sure if possible, not something thats come up before XD)
Both Awesome and Suck. He has Moar WS, BS and even Moar Basic Strength, a 5+ Invulnerable Save, the ability to take Asscan, or a Free Plasma Cannon or Buy a TL Lascannon.... but is I3 and Cannot take a Drop Pod :(
Ouch, what a bitch slap that was
So, by making him survive longer with extra rules he now has to slog it and get shot up anyway? somewhat pointless, might aswell take a much cheaper fire support dread to get the job done.
Never Liked Blood Claws anyway
Fair enough
Good Point, again the Long Fangs are for Nostalgia, as they have not been able to be used for 10 years!
Then i wouldnt bother dusting them off just yet then
Your army tends to lean heavy on CC, a unit that offers supporting fire with a real lack of tank killing isnt much use, by taking more melta in your pod units you then can drop the fangs, giving you enough points to buy something worthwhile instead.
YES I KNO! :(
Hey, needs to be done mate
nothing worse than a well thought out list backed up by bare plastic and metal XD

not so sure about this unit, one dreadnought runs into you and you are fethed here, I would change one out for a chainfist (not thunderhammer/powerfist) even if this means you have to lose a stormbolter or stormshield, the ability to practically auto-pen walkers is enough of a threat to keep them away from the assault
Troops: 830 Points
10 Grey Hunters (2 Meltaguns, 1 Power Fist and Drop Pod)
10 Grey Hunters (2 Meltaguns, 1 Power Fist and Drop Pod)
I dont have the codex here, but if meltabomb/Pow Wep is cheaper than a powerfist I would go with that (if you need to squeeze points to fit the chainfist in the above unit for example). if not then I approved of this wholeheartedly
10 Grey Hunters (Flamer, Free Plasmagun, 1 Power Weapon and Drop Pod)
10 Grey Hunters (Flamer, Free Plasmagun, 1 Power Weapon and Drop Pod)
I like this unit. it is a very effective anti infantry unit, i cant think of a single enemy infantry unit in the game that 16 bolter shots, 2 plasma shots, a flamer template and a counter-attacking unit of grey hunters cant handle, enemy terminators? you have a good chance of killing about 3 from shooting, then in the assault you are counter-attacking first with 3 power weapon swings, unless its a full 10 man TH/SS unit I think the GH would come out on top. 30 boys? 16 bolter shots =~4 dead orks 2 plasma =~1 more template =~3 or 4 more, assume you kill 6, they charge, you counter-attack, and win combat because you strike first. I would not change these guys at all. I will have to try it out myself.
Heavy Support: 140 points
6 Long Fangs
......1 Pack Leader
......5 Long Fangs with Missile Launchers
I have considered a similar build with a cyclone+missile spam long fang pack, but I will need to playtest to figure its actual effectiveness. One large benefit your army has is after you drop in- what is your opponent going to target first? the grey hunter RIGHT THERE blasting them with meltas/plasma/flamers? or the long fangs with just some missile launchers way over there?
win!
Total Cost:
1500 Exactly
EDIT: also, the overall synergy seems very strong, I can imagine more than one strategy, and a few good trickey tactics that this build could use.
the main drawback, Drop Pod Assault. if your opponent starts in reserve you are commiting units to the battlefield without targets.

Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

Don't have my codex to hand, but I THINK i have to take a Wolf Guard Pack Leader for Meltabombs, which means I lose the free special (as you only get it if the unit is 10 strong, and the Pods only hold 10 :()

Stop being a fething poof Gwar
Space pups are ment for CC, why else would they have move AND shoot heavies?
True they are, but their shooting is nothing to scoff at either!!
Lets face it, plasma isnt worth it with the options you have available
Melta + MotF is great anti-tank, spam it where needed.
True
The flamers, im not sure why you have those there
You have a CC orientated unit that could use that extra push against vehicles, and you take a bunson burner?
I say duel melta
THIS is the one thing I completely don't agree with. With drop pods, you really do need to make sure that you have some flamer to soften up large infantry squads and infantry in cover. By ignoring flamers all together, units in cover will be quite hard to move.
Havent managed to get my hands on the book yet, but whats Bjorn like?
Also, nice to see you didnt tajke the little suicide bomber dick in the list
Bjorn is alright. I wouldn't say worth it IMO. Lukas is crap. He's expensive and his little "1/2 chance i'll explode" could really bite you in the ass if he were to say die to scarabs and then explode and kill 6 Blood Claws + him. Really, all you have to do is shoot him to death.
I think with pups it will be an all or nothing style list.
You either go for all out combat, or all out shooting.
This I also disagree with. With their awesome new cavalry and cheap as hell long fangs and omg don't forget those living lighting Priests, I think that they can pull of a synergy that will be nasty!
Those fangs set you back on points, struggle with any decent armour, and generally just sit back doing nothing all game.
I would drop those points into something worth while, maybe a dread for some added impact?
I kinda agree with this but they are so cheap IDK what he really could replace them with that would be as effective!
Also, the biggest thing about you list is missing.
You need to fething start painting!

I much prefer the second list - but don't know (as I just told you, lol) how Wolves can work best at 1500. I'm not sure, with so few points, they can TRULY work at all...:(

1500 has always been a weak point for Wolves I do admit, we were always better at 2000 or 2250
