I've started a little truescale/biggerized project, that has quickly grown out of proportion. I've ended up with a squad of intricate well posed miniatures and a few thoughts came to mind. Aside from the obvious, I know they cannot be used in a tournament game. Does anyone play a full TS SM army at their Games Workshop? (Home games aside since most people use a good bit of house rules)

I've kept them on the 25mm bases for normal marines, and when I get to it the 40?mm bases for terminators. Alternatively I've seen a lot of people using the larger bases for normal marines, I believe this would cause some issues in close combat situations where base to base contact is concerned? I've also handled WYSIWYG with them so there are no real "Counts as" and other things are made very obvious Ie: Power weapons, CC etc...

a few other things that came to mind
-Larger vehicles being reached faster or more easily in range of enemy fire
-The need to use larger pieces of cover due to the true line of sight rule.
-Transporting them. (they occupy a hell of a lot more space!)

Any other things I may not be taking into consideration? Anything I'm overreacting about? I'm curious about other peoples opinions about playing a heavily modified army or playing against.

Should I continue to build my force all in true scale for enjoyment? Think I'll be turned away from any games? This isn't my only army, but I don't want to make a whole 2500 point trophy shelf army.

Thanks for reading my thread! I'd like to hear some of your opinions.

If they're on 25's, I see no issue with using them in tourney unless you are doing "superbiggerized" LRs and Rhinos. And that's not even too bad unless they're huge.
Why couldn't you use them at GW?
Infantry cover rules don't depend on size.
I don't think your going to end up in trouble.

All in all, I'd love to see the army and maybe a "how it was done" link....please?

The only problem you will have are the Vehicle Sizes IMO. But that's up to the TO really.

If you make your vehicles true scale to match your already upsized marines they will be ridiculously large.

just so you are aware.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Even the oversize vehicles shouldn't be a major problem - they're going to be a disadvantage to you much more often than an advantage.

I'd have no problem playing them. Except with my marines! ('cause mine would look puny in comparison)

As said, the infantry shouldn't have an issue, only the vehicles. You might want to be a little careful with how you scale those up, as the foot print will matter a great deal (and really I think they make rhinos big enough as it is.)

I did true scale Sw a long time ago, the Pred tanks were bigger than land raiders. It was a bad move as cove was not really my friend that time. 5th is all about cover and TLOF and by increasing the size your just making an easier target

Yea if your using GW space marines (why wouldnt you?) then legally you can use them in a GW store AND tournaments. All you did was take a GW mini and make it larger. Totally game legal. If you want to vehicles bigger then Id suggest only by a little bit. Remember the rhino and such are already smaller then they should be as far as scale goes lol. You wouldnt be able to fit 10 marines into a rhino anyways. Weather they are true scale or not

Good luck mate

Actually, you can and it has been done many times.

Yep INTO.

It's even been done with the old rhino (ten metal landspeeder crewmen sitting inside it).

Get a bunch of sitting down orks (like the trukk driver) and it'll be easy.

Remember, an APC has just enough room to pack everyone in - they can't all be striking dramatic poses, waving their guns about and maintaining their personal space!

This fact holds true in the back of a C-130 Hercules as well.

I use termy bases for my overly converted plague marines...who are now illegal in any local event at my Local Game Store.

I converted them in 4th ed where the rule was: No to smaller, Yes to bigger.
Now GW changed it in 5th and the TO's in my area jumped at tightening rules and disallowing differing bases.

So……that’s the worst that can happen: barred from any Local Game Store tourneys…

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
