I had this idea a few weeks back of having a game of IG cadians (english and american) against IG death korps (germans). Has something like this been done before? Any ideas would be apprecited. (im going to build a board as well)

Guardsman Tom, you are hereby given a field promotion to Sergeant for your excellent procurement of enemy information.
You have supplied your commanders with intel that will allow us to dominate the latest threats from our enemies.
Congratulations, your command takes effect immediately..

The Scottish and Canadians were there too.

That being said, yeah, I'm sure this has been done. As for ideas? Well, you can play Flames of War... That sounds right up your alley.

The Canadians had their own beach(s?) to secure independent of ours. The Scottish were part of the British assaults.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Infact, I believe the Canadians pushed even further onto dry land in the first day than anyone else, did, and they had more resistance than any other beach except Omaha.

I'm going to be the nerdy historically accurate one on this thread. The list of the beaches are as follows. Americans were the most variable. The other three were pretty similar landings + advances

Omaha - USA - Killing ground until afternoon when they pushed out, many tanks lost
Utah - USA - Longshore drift moved them down the coast, very successful almost unopposed landing
Gold - British - Fierce initial opposition, British forces broke through the German defences with relatively few casualties
Juno - Canadians - Made a quick assault, minimal casualties, took a lot of ground
Sword - British - Good landing, ran into Panzer units later on

Don't forget the parachutists of the Brits 1st, US 82nd and US 101st (Elysians?)

Would recommend some sort of sustained assault rule for the attackers. 'Funny' tanks would be interesting (demolishers and eradicators along with 'swimming' Russes). And make sure the defenders get barbed wire, tank traps, trenches, mines etc. Arty support for either side would also be cool

Sounds like an awesome battlefield. Please post pics of any forthcoming battles!

I don't play as much as I could. I blame society! And ninjas

Wehrkind: "Nah, see he yells the order, and when everyone looks at him and say "What?" he grabs the vox, hits a guy with it and screams "CAN YOU HEAR MY NOW?!" into the mouth piece. Works like a charm "

Funny thing to do on L4D [if you own the server] Bind the tank music to a key, then at quiet moments press it and start firing like mad at something behind your team whilst screaming 'tank' on voice comms.

Guard versus Guard doesn't sound terribly interesting. Go for a similar scenario, but for example using Marines of some sort as the ones holding the beachhead. Clone battles are seldom entertaining for any involved.

Use plenty specialized units, like Darby's Rangers (US), and maybe even WWII era SAS. Also, make models of the landing boats.

Definitely one of the best reports on the site - I like their batreps there quite a bit.
